Such an awesome world/game. I can't wait for the 29th to come. This will be one of the few MMO's I'll be willing to play from release too. Queues and over-crowed newbie areas be damned.

There won't be a queue. The game is way too small for that.

And dang..I was really hoping it'd be an F2P. Well..so long, Wakfu. You're fun and fresh, but I'm not shelling out cash for broken classes and hoping for a fix down the line.

The monthly fee is FAR lower than any other competing MMO.

I see no reason to complain... especially given how F2P MMOs often operate their cash shops.

Just to save the lazy folks from doing a search, the monthly fee is mentioned in the launch date article:

"In addition, a monthly subscription fee of $6.00 will give players access to premium content, and a microtransaction–based store will allow users to purchase cosmetic items."
http://www.wakfu.com/na/mmorpg/community/news/281271-wakfu-launch-date-announcement

Yes, that's right. SIX DOLLARS. That is 40% of the current standard for MMO sub fees. Quite frankly, if you cannot afford that, something is wrong. Drive a little slower, eat a little less (or at cheaper places), you can easily scrape $6 in change in a month.

If your gaming budget is really so low that you can't afford even that, you should probably be re-evaluating your life. And you probably pirate all your games anyways...

I most likely won't be playing it either because of the monthly sub. It is a neat game, but I honestly just couldn't get into it in beta. I don't even think I ever made it our of the starter zone.

Here's to waiting for Salem and ArcheAge for my sandbox needs. Hopefully they aren't full of cat turds.

and it is 6$ because it doesn't warrant a full subscription cost. They could run the game and be profitable by just selling cosmetic items, bag expansions, and exp boosts.

Cuz we all know tons of small F2P MMORPG titles without P2W items in cash shop...*sarcasm*

Like Zyrusticae said 6$ a month is next to nothing for a month worth of game time. Moaning about loosing such amount of money is just silly. Expecting P2W cash shop so You can freebie a month, before moaning at forums about unbalanced items, is just silly.

Well, you are certainly entitled to your opinion, good sir.

Me, I prefer to wait for launch as playing any MMORPG that lacks people isn't going to be anywhere near indicative of the actual experience at launch, as these are games meant to be played with others. Wakfu in particular is a game that will live or die on its social interaction, much like EVE Online does now.

You cannot convince me that EVE Online's core gameplay is even remotely exciting - the only reason it is any good is because of the rush of PvP, which is provided exclusively by other players. Strip EVE of its players and you have an extremely boring game deprived of most of its best content. Wakfu, being a mostly sandbox MMO, is much the same.

I also happen to think it is deeply unfair to judge a game based on its tutorial levels. Especially a game like this, where a lot of the strategic depth doesn't show up until after you have a full range of abilities.

If a game is unable to get a casual player to stick around long enough to get past the "tutorial" there is something wrong.

Though I largely agree with your comparison with EVE, I would actually put WAKFU ahead of it too. By that, I fully feel that a loner can have fun and enjoy the world of WAKFU more-so than in EVE. The tactical combat itself is far more enjoyable and engaging than EVE's, granted you don't get he same "heart thumping" excitement due to the much lower death penalty. The NPC's/world is also more dynamic and expressive which lends itself greatly to role play and exploration. The whole game has a nice fun vibe to it too, with its quirky humor and wonderfully creative art-style.

Maybe it is just me, but EVE was more akin to work (cool work mind you), where-as WAKFU is more of a vacation in a wonderful world with the emphasis on fun.

Brilliant, isn't it? A game is F2P, someone complains. A game isn't F2P, someone complains. ...

Yay!! I didn't play much in beta because I heard of the possibility of a wipe, but I enjoyed what time I did spend in it and am looking forward to more!

Can't wait!

This is the AAA sandbox that I've been begging for, for so long. Made by a company with several years of experience in the MMO world and a pretty faithful following (in Europe, especially in France).

The beta was nice, but we need to get a proper economy rolling. And that will only happen after the wipe.

Wow these videos are misleading... -_-

For anyone that wants to know what Wakfu is really about, check this
review: youtube.com/watch?v=aR04GuFkj_M

The game as is, just simply isn't worth a sub and completely broken.
Highly doubtful much will change on the 29th when the game goes live.

I have played open beta and can not see what you found is broken about it. It's a sandbox grinder same as Dofus.
Wakfu is not small.

I've got to lvl13 on Xelor, didn't want to waste my time further because of the wipe at start.
What I found really refreshing in Wakfu is that you can plant things not just kill them. I got to lvl20 lumberjack by just running around taking cuttlings and replanting them. (I might have found my hippy place in MMOs)

Ogrines will be used to get more game time using an in-game currency like in Dofus. (http://www.dofus.com/en/ogrines). Similar to EVE timecodes i guess.

My only worry about Wakfu is bots :(

@sauceofmagic ~ ah so you made it about as far as any standard player before quitting?

yea, that' doesn't say much bout the game, does it?

Granted you stopped because of the impending wipe.. but at the same time, you can't argue that you didn't run into any of the *broken mechanics* because you didn't actually play the game.

As for your statement that you got to lv20 lumberjack.. I'd say kudos.. but good luck selling any of that or even using it in a profession ~ you'll quickly find that no one other then full scale guilds get past lv35 with any profession.. and even then, the mobs still drop better stuff.

in the end, you base your argument around the *new toy* feeling you had, failing to actually see the game for what it is or even dive further into it's lack luster mechanics.

come back when you've actually gotten some experience with the title plz... lol, that is.. IF you don't uninstall before reaching lv40 *(lv200 cap btw).

Its strange that anyone will go for P2P system anymore. Especially for a game like this.

Even 6$ is way to much , when you look at what is offered F2P

Shame. I really thought it will be F2P...
