@Nautius : the fact you got so many downvotes shows how badly political correctness and the left's mob mentality has damaged society.

Nevertheless, it is true.

Every generation, in its youth, rebels and offends and strikes out against their parents, against society, against custom, against authority. Some see things in the world they think are wrong; others simply don't want to be told what they can't do; all wish to establish their own identity, that they are not merely ___'s daughter or son, but their own person.

Every generation, in its turn, somehow manages to forget this when THEY become the elders, the authority, the establishment - or lie about it, to others and perhaps themselves, claiming that they were never like that and never did such things. They cling to the fondest memories of the past and imagine a pure and golden age that never really was.

So has it been since the beginning of the world, and will probably continue until the end.

You have the right to have children.
You DO NOT have the right to use your children as a weapon to oppress other people, or force other people to change their lives.

Your CHOICE to have children does not give you special privileges to limit the actions of other people.

I find children incredibly annoying and do not want to have their annoyances shoved in my face. Yet I have to put up with your brats, and allow you to "shove them in my face" when I am out in public. If the world has to put up with the actions of your annoying offspring, then you have to put up with the actions of the world.

Despite what you may believe, your children are not special snowflakes. They do not give you superior rights over others.

So? If you aren't homosexual, don't involve yourself in a homosexual relationship. Simple. If you are that insecure about your own sexuality and your children's you should probably be seeing a therapist.

Pretty much this, I'm straight and I just wouldn't bother with this new feature. There's no reason for anyone to go gay in this game (unless they implement some sort of unique reward).

People will "go gay in this game", as you put it, for whatever reasons they want. For some, it's a roleplaying thing, for others, they might just like using a certain companion more and decide to do the romance quests for more XP. And there's a long thread over on the official forums about same-gender relationships where quite a few of those talking about the upcoming feature are homosexual people who just don't want to be excluded like they are in so many other games.

Not everyone does things in MMOs just for a reward. ^_^

@(Unverified) Or you could be a heterosexual male playing a female character (and visa verse for women playing male characters) and may wish to explore the romance meta-game but don't have any desire to do it with the opposite gender... this is entirely feasible IMO.

@Cyroselle I always play a female character. Not for reasons like "well if I'm going to stare at it might as well be pretty." I just think that my name "Mirarii" fits a female better than a male character. Stereotypically a female fits a support role better too, and I usually roll healers. I don't know how the companion system works... But I went for the female's in dragon age with my female elf... Also went for the females on my male shepard in mass effect.

If you don't want to romance a man as a straight man, don't play a girl. I play my own gender because the character reflects me(a little), including my sexual interests. If I'm a straight male, I'm playing a male with the intention of romancing females in the game. If you just want to see 2 girls doing it, there's plenty of porn on the internet for you.

(I'm for the same-gender romances in TOR, I just disapprove of guys cross-playing for the attractive butts or whatever excuse they use.)

I used BT3 for my Trooper(big frame for tanking), but my Agent is BT1(smaller for sniping). In real life I'm somewhere around BT1 and BT2(5'9, between 120lbs since I was maybe 13, some 13 years ago). Just dispelling the myth that all internet guys are fatties. Blame the high metabolism.

I don't play the game, but even if I did it would be a non-issue to me. However it seems to me that if gays can lobby to have it added, others should be allowed to lobby against it.

Because we leave things related to equality to the whim of the masses? That has never and will never work. If it we left it up to the majority to decide what was and was not equality in our country we would still have jim crow laws, women would not have the right to vote and many many other forms of disfranchisement in this country.

People should have the right to say what they want. What they should not have the right to do is take rights from others.

Except they aren't lobbying against a feature so much as against the presumed immorality and/or general wrongness that they think homosexuality is. And Bioware ought to implement it and tell them to f. off.

Although this organizations statement is so ridiculous I'm half convinced it's some kind of a joke, but you never know with lunatics.

@Tethadam Actually I kinda agree with him. It is free speech after all. That last bit of your comment kinda goes with what he said.. It's not like the majority is actually TAKING rights away, we have the supreme court and other facets of law that prevent this sort of thing from happening. If people want to voice their opinions against homosexuality, let them. If people want to voice their opinions for it, let them. In this case, the commenter was just stating they can voice their opinions against it. Besides, it's a video game, does it make me homophobic or anti-gay if I don't include gay marriage in my game? Saying I HAVE to include it or it's a right is like saying everyone always has to get what they want.

If a man writes a love song for a woman is that homophobic? Is that anti-gay? No.

I don't care either way if they have it in the game. I do disagree with people making a big deal over including it.

Nobody's telling them they can't express their opinions. But part of expressing your opinion is getting to hear what a load of crap it is from other people, if that's warranted. "Free speech" does not mean "free from the social consequences of saying something ignorant and offensive." It doesn't mean "free from disagreement." Why does every issue like this need someone coming in and reminding people of the obvious fact that idiots get to express ridiculous ideas? They're already doing it and there aren't laws in place that can stop them, as it should be; what are the rest of us supposed to do in response, applaud politely?

And nobody's holding a gun to BioWare's collective head and forcing them to implement this. Believe it or not, they're still in total control of their game and what goes into it. It's not a "right" to have this included, but it sure as hell goes a long way toward showing that BioWare intends to be inclusive toward all of its customers.

so let me get this straight (no pun intended). it's not anti-gay or homophobic to not allow player characters to form make believe same sex relationship's with a line of code. but it's caving into "gay lobbyist's" when a game company does allow it?

have you had much success going through your life so one sided?
