Not even going to comment on this as I think the feature isn't game breaking with or without it so it doesn't bother me too much. What does bother me though, is this organization sticking their noses in a game that's rated teen which means there will be content in there that they may not like.

Please explain how two men/women kissing deserves more of a mature rating than a man and women kissing? Sex is sex, the gender affiliation is irrelevant... I don't really understand your argument.

What I meant by the higher rating, was the romance arcs in all BioWare games. Romance is romance regardless of gender and certain content deserves a higher rating.

I agree, it was poorly worded but if you don't like homosexual romances, you shouldn't be playing a game with romances period. And by the teen rating, it deserves it and I see nothing wrong with it. Parents need to make informed choices about the games they allow their children to play and if they have an issue with the same gender romances, they shouldn't buy the game.

Let BioWare make their games the way they want to, and let parents be parents.

While I agree with you in that I couldnt care less one way or another Bioware DID make the game the way they wanted and the other side of this argument complained and got it changed. The let them do what they want goes both ways and that should be remembered

I agree. Parents should be monitoring what their kids play and do.

That happens with gameplay features all the time, though. BioWare obviously saw the merit of it, or they wouldn't be planning to implement it, the same way Blizzard finally came around to letting people switch armor skins.

A lot of times gay-friendly options don't end up in games because companies aren't aware of the demand, or because it's just not something the designers had the foresight to consider. I would have a hard time believing that BioWare of all companies wouldn't be aware of that, but it's possible that they had to clear it with LucasArts first and showing ol' George just how strongly people feel about it worked in their favor.

Or they don't want to deal with a controversy like this, as it might impact sales. it shouldn't, and the controversy is manufactured...but if you spent $300 million developing a product, you'd be pretty risk adverse regarding its content and ability to attract negative press.

They are threatening to keep more children from playing the game... and this is a bad thing?

Oh... no... please... don't... do... that.
Whatever will we do without the constant stream of annoying brats, running around, flooding the server with barrens chat?
/sarcasm off

I'm sorry, but if this keeps kids form playing, then implement it NOW.

If Bioware plays their cards right they could parlay this attention from the Family Research Council into a great publicity opportunity. Such a small proportion of gamers side with the FRC's position there's really no risk for Bioware.

And really... the religiod homophobes have already lost the culture war, they just haven't realized it yet.

Honestly people just need to get over it...1. its a game if you dont like something in it either keep your kids from playin it or dont play it yourself simple as that 2. whether or not its in a game it still happens in real life again get over it and 3. just because its in the game doesnt mean you have to do it... thats why you have "options".
I swear some people just look for stuff to complain about.

It's called religion.

Religion makes people stupid and stupid people get bothered by things that shouldn't bother them.

That's inflammatory and unnecessary.

Your views are no more special than anyone else.

While I do not agree with how they are approaching the issue, I can somewhat agree that our values in the last 20 years have been in deep decline.

This game, along with some other types of media, further behavior such as teen girls posting videos of themselves making out so they can look cool. Or guys wearing effeminate clothing and hair to be hipsters.

This generations has seemed to have lost their gender identity and, speaking as a parent, is saddening. It shows lack of parenting as well as apathy toward child development.

Just because you want you children to grow op with a certain set of morés, principles and just good character, does not mean you have to teach them to be intolerant. You can still respectfully disagree with out being a "hater".

I have 2 lesbian family members that I love very much and respect them greatly. But that doesn't mean I want my kids watching them kiss their partners at Thanksgiving.

Last point. Just because something has been deemed "social acceptable", does not mean you have to shove it people's faces and call them haters if they disapprove. Social acceptance always changes.

@Nautius Saying I have 2 lesbian family members before making another point - is like saying: "I have a black friend....then comes something subversively racist."

Question how does your gay family members feel that a peck on the cheek is offensive for your kids to see on thanksgiving.

It's about love and acceptance. Not living in the closet. Which is exactly what you want them to do.

The world has been in decline, and the young disrespecting their parents, since at least the time of Cicero.

If you will supply me with the year of your birth, I'll be glad to provide a list of the ways that your generation, like every other before and since, offended against common morality and decency (as dictated by their elders).

That's not a very good correlation.

They are not in the closet, I don't expect them to be.

But I don't go around shoving it people faces that they are and they MUST RESPECT them based on their orientation.

I am seeing way too many people who spew populist rhetoric to defend a point of view that (based on repeated voting across different states) less than 50% of the general population agree with. Because I do not agree with the lifestyle does not make me a hater. Just like you approving it doesn't make you hate people who disagree. Now those that do use their view point to rail on the opposition ("Fags should die!" or "Religion is the root of all our problems!") and just spew hate, yeah, I have a problem with both sides.

I don't care what people do as long as it does not fringe on others' rights.

Do I prefer to see tow guys making out.. NO. Do I want to have to explain why two guys are making out to my 5 year olds... HELL NO.

Kids are repeatedly being exposed to things that are sexual in nature way too early. Children should not be worrying about sexual identity.

That was the crux of my point.

That's about the most idiotic response I have seen in these posts yet.

While I have tolerance for for others, I have no tolerance for stupidity.

Okay, just so long as we can agree..

" But that doesn't mean I want my kids watching them kiss their partners at Thanksgiving. "

doesn't infringe on your, or your kid's rights.
