The Daily Grind: What vanity pet would you like to see in your favorite MMO?

Last week Turbine announced all sorts of huge updates for Dungeons and Dragons Online in 2012. Among exciting talk of expansions, Druids, and level cap increases, one little item may have slipped under some folks' radar. Vanity pets are coming to DDO in 2012 -- specifically, "fun and cute DnD critters," according to Executive Producer Fernando Paiz.

Justin and I chatted a bit about that on this week's Massively Speaking, and Justin put forth the awesome idea of a tiny Beholder pet. I loved the idea and it set me to thinking. Vanity pets in MMOs are such a frivolous little thing, yet they're such fun to so many people, and it seems like everyone has a wish list of "wouldn't it be cool if..." vanity pets.

So what's yours? Would you love a little Beholder in DDO? Would you love to see Fallen Earth offer a prairie chicken pet to go with your mount? Tell us what vanity pet you'd love to see trailing along behind your character!

Fun and cute DnD critters? I give a year before the Broccoli from the adverts is in the cash shop.

Don't wanna buy things from cash shop, don't even want cash shops in my mmorpg.

I prefer to "achieve" things (pets included) from gameplay.

1. I think he is one of those people who think people "want" to read his off topic posts.

2. He is one of those anti-F2P people who can't help, but to post of his displeasure with the F2P system.

1. A mini-me..literally. An identical version of my character that changed it's look every time I did.

2. A mini predator, both sexual and from the movie's.

3. A mini Steve Jobs.

A pug. Seriously, MMOs need more pugs! It would even be a nice way of making puns in-game with you bringing a pug to a PUG run. Pugception!

Penguins. I don't understand the lack of love for penguin pets.

@Gaugamela WoW has a pug, that you get as an achievement reward, from participating in X number of heroic PUGs.

I kinda miss my pug. /sniff

My welsh corgie in Rift makes up for it though.

I think it'd be cool to have a mule or a storage droid or something similar that allows for bank access when I right click on it out of combat.

Perhaps a jawa for swtor would be neat. He could even make a noise when I enter combat.

@Vladeon I have a jawa as one of my companions.

I would love to see some mini pets in SWTOR.
I would like to see:
1. A Wampa
2. A Jawa (My class gets a companion, so it isn't a huge issue for me :P)
3. a Dewback (I would rather have the mount, but a pet is more likely).
4. A Rancor
5. Salacious Crumb (complete with cackle, but the owner would be able to hear him)

In Guild Wars 2:
1. A Tengu (I am hoping that they make this a playable race when the add back Cantha).
2. a Hylek
3. A Skritt.
4. An Afflicted Elementalist or Assassin.
5. A Quaggan

I want a pony for my "eventual" Elin in Tera.

Invisible Stalker or any other type of invisible creature as pet. And I mean fully invisible not like "ghosty". That would rule.

If they don't have a gelatinous cube pet planned for DDO we can confirm that the Turbine devs are out of their collective gourds.

I'm not really a pet collector, but what I'd like to see would be a breeding system for pets. The system should allow players to come up with completely unique pets by combining different species and seeing what the results are. It's not that interesting to see dozens of people with a virtual Penguin, but seeing that Penguin with the Mini Thor's arm cannon? Yeah, that'd be kinda cool.
