Hmmm...f2p for $29.99?

When is GW2 being released again?

@jimr9999us. Did you even read the article or just the headline?

He's not the only one. I am going through all the comments here and I must say I am baffled.

Seriously, read the article. How the hell are you playing MMO's and you don't know how to read?

"..more than $50 worth of in-game items..."

All of you should be ashamed of yourselves.

Uh, shame is something I feel when I lie to my wife. My opinions on games generally don't evoke emotion past amusement, puzzlement, or disbelief :)

In this case I'm puzzled by GamersFirst choice of marketing for APB. The thing keeping me from trying it isn't a wardrobe of vanity items but the reputation the game has as a haven for cheats and hackers.

Tell me the game is cheat free and that'll go a lot further towards getting me to play than a boxed copy on the 4' of shelving left at BestBuy for computer games will. -shrug-

I don't know if this is a good decision on their part. Unless on the cover it says the game is F2P, and buying the box isn't needed, this almost smells of a scam to me. I know its not, but people out there will buy this thinking it could possibly be a P2P game, load it up, and find out they could just download and play for free.

Don't see the point in doing this for a F2P game. A retail game card of some sort would have done better, problem is people know what game cards are for. A retail game has the promise of a new game, when in fact, its not.

Sure it's just not the old boxes still lingering around? Some local BB's still have Catacylsm deluxe editions in stock.

@Amusednow When you make your purchase, first make sure the title is APB: RELOADED by IGS and not "APB: ALL POINTS BULLETIN by Realtime Worlds/EA"

Also make sure that you are spending $30 (correct one, APB: RELOADED) instead of either $50 or $0.07 (wrong one, APB: ALL POINTS BULLETIN)

The best is Fry's Electronics for that...I actually saw a Tabula Rasa collectors edition on the shelf last time I was there. Good times.

Well that's a surprise - boxed copies again? You'd think they wouldn't want the overheads on printing, packing, distribution and all that stuff. I feel like this is a person who got shot in the leg playing with guns, then months later healed and went out to play with guns again....

Well, bottom line is, they know what they're doing I guess. GL, G1! :)

@pcgneurotic G1 isn't responsible for the overhead. That is on the distribution company. They were more than happy to join the relationship and know what they are doing (it is a major distributor of games in NA). From my past experience with boxed sales on F2P games (War Rock and Sword) I'm pretty sure this will be a good thing for APB and G1.

Many players don't like to pay for things online with their credit cards and this will be a great alternative for them. Also, boxes in retail chains are a great form of ground marketing and brings in higher quality players (READ: players willing to actually pay) than most online marketing.

It would be nice if they just sold a disc with the base game on it to save the downloading.

Also still waiting on an Oceanic server because I cannot drive at all, which seems to be a big part of the gameplay, since the driving is server side and has so much imput-lag if you aren't close-by.

Anyone heard of an update on the Aussie servers? I only heard a few people saying they would back when the game was in beta. I'd love to play this, from what I played its pretty nice for a F2P.

@Snappyguy have you tried the Hong Kong server ? ...since there is a Hong Kong one I'm not sure about Aussie servers ...I have never heard of it...but then again I don't really look up these information since they are no use to me.

Anywho, the Hong Kong server is for premium players only so if you want to try it you'll have to pay for premium.

@McJAC I may try it out, I'm not sure if I 've played enough to justify buying premium yet :P Thanks!

Hope it is CLEARLY stated on box that this is f2p game and box is NOT needed at all.

Cause it seem fishy....

@smartstep I'm not sure how this seems fishy? I think people just want to cause drama. If you buy the box you get a lot of cool stuff, you wouldn't get if you didn't purchase the box. Whether or not the game is F2P you get something for what you buy. People are acting like there is nothing in the box worth paying for - which again, isn't true.

That said, I am not 100% sure what the final version of the box looked like but the last one I touched did say it was Free2Play. That is kind of a big deal for K2/G1 since Free2Play is trademarked by them.

The retail pack's real benefits are the 500G1C and the 30-day Premium.

The special weapon bonus is either an HVR-Scout with Cooling Jacket 3, CSG with Mag Pull 3, Whisper with Mag Pull 3, or a N-Tec with Extended Magazine 3.

The Act 44 'Last Stand' has Reflex Sight 3 and is subject to change due to mass disapproval and uselessness.

The Cisco is just like the preset one found on ARMAs.

All of this is account bound. Meaning all characters will get the weapons, car, and the bonus item. This also will include all new characters made.

It's a good price for just $30 dollars. And really just to introduce ARMAs items, varied weapons, and other small stuff to new players (or borderline current ones).

APB is fun only because its not the usual fantasy sci-fi theme as every other MMO, but once you play a week or so the shine wears off and you really see little reason to keep playing. There isn't much content and its still not a very polished game. Gamersfirst took a originally horrible game and made it mediocre. I also wasn't impressed with the community there compared to other MMO's. Some of those players really have an attitude and treat people like crap when you're not as good at the game as they are, even though you may be new to the game.

This game is a joke and a waste of money hence why it went Free 2 play. Also if you want Goolge Hacks for APB its so hack friendly its not even worthy trying. Sad that people become so obsessed with wanting to be the best that they have to cheat to get there.
