The fact that Rivera refers to the Constitution class as a 'Connie' is like, +1000 points anyway.

Wow, because a Cryptic Dev come on and basically blames Atari for everything, everyone gives them a free pass and believes everything he says.

Remember Cryptic sold themselves to Atari as a company that can make cheap MMo's in under 2years which is exactly what they did.

Okay, he's been honest, but for 8 months the rest of Cryptic haven't been.

This DStahl loving, really suprises me. Wasn't he saying months ago how they were going to be bring out a lot of new stuff and that he's currently playing a new ep now? How about all the Klingon stuff thats he said was on the way and be patient, big things are coming. Oh and STO is not going to go F2P for the foreseeable future. Yea right.

If they were as dire straights as they were, people would not have subscribed and because they basically lied, they "conned" people into subbing and staying. Heck they made these people basically pay for the F2P crowd to come in.

Talk is cheap and so is this interview. Lets see if they can get new content out and I don't mean ships and grab bags. So far, the "only 2 FE a year" doesn't fill me with confidence that PWE has their back.

F2P is last chance saloon and me thinks PWE is going to put all their eggs into the Cryptic engine and NWN and doesn't care too much about STO.

I always though Atari would bring STO down, and I think they almost did. I've hated Atari a long time (ever since their handling of the D&D license which I believe they should not have anymore). They are simply clueless - they have zero understanding about gamers. Anyways, they've gone off into the casual market - ha!

I tried a bit of STO over the weekend now that it is f2p.

Space flight/combat is kinda okay. But the immersion is so.... so... shallow, and going to the bridge was the biggest disappointment I have ever had in a MMO. This game is structural crippled with with a lack of vision on what the star trek universe is. (and i'm not even a trekkie!)

The biggest joke in the game is the voiced commentary by "spock". The just dumped it in there somewhere with location triggers and did not even bother to connect it to game elements.

Great idea, bad execution.

Very happy to get the blanks filled in concerning what was /really/ happening with Star Trek Online and Cryptic.

Many of us who follow the details closely already had strong suspicions that something had been wrong for a while, but it's one thing to suspect, and it's another thing to hear the facts.

Thanks to Rivera for speaking up, and thanks to Massively for relating the news.

That interview gave me alot of hope for STO.

As for the people mentioning Atari, it should be noted that the current company just bought the name to put over their old one Infogames, there is no other connection between the companies.

Yep. Sure has, check it out. One of the first or second little window pop ups wants you to accept Pando terms and conditions.

I think that many players, myself included, either knew or at least suspected all of this. The question most of us are asking is, "Okay, so this is why things were bad in the past - now when and how are you going to FIX IT?"

PWE's promise of more investment, along with their admission that the lucrative (for them) selling of grab bags will continue, make people want to see some concrete return on this money we are told is/will be coming in.

Atari is a franchise killer, and holding to old video gaming ideologies. I would trust Sony to do better then Atari

Is it just me or is it disturbing that you are so negative all the time and are using this medium to promote your personal podcast? I come here to get info on the game and ever since Brandon left it has went downhill and now, to top it off, I am having PodcastUGC crammed down my throat. I think it is highly unfair that the other podcasts or media do not get a single mention on your blog, yet your own podcast does.

Yes I am a tad bitter at PodcastUGC for how they come across as elitist and won't help you out unless you know someone. I have a number of friends that do not get emails answered or they are talked down to by Havarah, your so called co-host.

So a suggestion from someone that has been a fan of Star Trek and is a fan of STO, you might do well to look into Star Trek a bit more, as you admitted you haven't been a fan that long. Star Trek is about equality and acceptance. That was Rodenberry's vision. Yours is obviously self promotion and elitism. I won't be back to this blog.
