@ jimr9999us

Your welcome! I understand everyone has different tastes when it comes to graphics. I'm the type of gamer that can appreciate a pretty broad palette of styles, colors, and mood, so I didn't mind as much. I was also too busy thinking how cool it was to see a Todd McFarlane inspired fantasy setting!

@VioletArrows

I agree. There are definitely two extremes at work and seeing too much of either can be monotonous/tiring on the eye and senses.

@h4ngedm4n @Rhodanum

Yes, I believe I read that it was ATI/AMD related as well. I have an ATI card as well, so I was glad to find a fix for the bug, but agree that there could probably have been a bit more testing to avoid something like that. on the other hand, there are worse bugs too. As long as magic resistances don't simply disappear and dragons continue to fly straight, I think it'll be fine!

Reckoning demo was actually pretty good. The graphics are subpar, but the amount of gameplay and gameplay systems is really impressive. It definitiley is one of those games you want to explore every nook and cranny too. Very fun combat.

I'm still debating if I will get it, knee deep in TOR right now and having a great time, not much time for other gaming.

The other day, my friend called and jizzed in my ear for about an hour going on about how awesome Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning was. Imo the game was 'OK' at best, had some really lame animations, and some of the funniest facial expressions I've ever seen outside of Gary's Mod. The PC version didn't work, I had the black screen issue, and who's bright idea was it to disable settings any way? So I tried it on PS3, and oh man was it borderline silly. The gameplay is at times awkward, but other than that 'fun'; actually I got bored of the demo and quit playing it though. It's like Free Realm's meets World of Warcraft, but with a 1 million dollar budget. The cut scenes were mmm.. Some good some bad, some strange. Seems very rushed, like the npc would be talking, but it would show your face, or in the beginning when you find 'Hughes' I think that's his name.... A cut scene starts, Hughes walks over, and does a little hope to get in front of you - then it cuts to an in-game scene, and it shows him again walking over to, and again hopping in front of you.

I'm not really all that interested, seems the game is maybe a year or so premature, needs a lot more work, a lot more polish, and most definitely more optimization.

I don't care how many thousands of years of lore you have, it wont make the game good, I've seen better quality games from Open Source 10 years ago. If 38 studios gets their shit together, I'd love to give it another try, but as I see it now, no way in hell could they ever compete with Blizzard, Anet, Sony, or EA.

Thing is, the game is actually published by EA (which is why I did a double-take when I saw the demo on Steam, along with the fact that it can be pre-ordered there. Now if only they'd do the same thing for ME 3.... *grumble grumble*)

Very much agreed on most of your points, though. I'm very fond of action combat games, reason why I loved the first iteration of the Fable series (didn't touch the other two due to dismal reviews and not owning a console). However, the character animation, some of the work done to the cutscenes and the general wonkiness of the camera (can't put my finger on it -- it's just that it seems to be jumping all over the place in a way that genuinely makes me motion-sick) had me going 'meh.'

I'll probably end up buying it, because the combat is honestly fun and the world environments are quite pretty in their own particular way. Thing is, I'll probably wait until it drops in price or it hits a sale, because to me it just isn't worth the same price as games like Skyrim right now).

Yeah same, I wouldn't mind picking it up from the bargain bin, or as a classic. But no way in hell will I fork out 65 bucks for this. Good idea, great story, but the production quality sad.

I will actually be pretty much abandoning MMO's for a bit, while I disappear into this game. The demo, (which IS a DEMO, and not the final game), had a few issues, which if you read the KOAR boards seem to have been noted. The issues however are trivial to me, and I am blown away. Invis walls bug me, but I think I can deal with that.

Info on the MMO is scarce to say the least, but mention of dungeons that will take days to explore has me drooling. As long as they keep PvP on PvP servers, and don't mess things up in PvE by balanceing the game for PvP I will be very very happy.

I/m a bit surprised you didn't use a screenshot from the KoA SP game demo, which is out now and on which the MMO will be based.

KOA demo unfortunatelly shows that game is very cookie cutter and loaded with cliches :(

Not that it is bad. It is just absolutely average.

I have fears that Copernicus will be very cookie cutter themepark :/

I'd just like to say ya'll need to stop arguin about ToR/WoW/whatever-the-hell on here. This is about Amalur, it always surprises me how basically every comment section in the articles on here ends up in some sort of argument.

Anyways, I loved the Reckoning demo. Sure, it was buggy, but it also was said to be a previous earlier version, just meant to give us a taste. From what I tasted, it was awweesssooommeee. I'm not tired of, but need a change from, all the grey's and browns out there. This game is wonderfully colorful, the combat is fun, and the story so far promises to be good.

I'm very much looking forward to an MMO set in this world. Just hoping the combat will be the same, cause that would be some really awesome fun in an MMO.

Schilling has already promised that the end game will be Raid or Die and that he pretty much loathes the casual fan base...so looks like this will be a pass for me even though I really enjoyed the KOA demo.

I just want to say the Destiny system in this game is pretty badass. I like the idea of building up your character as you go and being able to respec, instead of picking a class early and being stuck with it. Find out more:

Also the fate shift (matrix-style time slowdown & fatality) is awesome.

I'm not sure how much of these cool mechanics are going to make it over into the Copernicus MMO, but I think it is looking good for them.

They seem to be aproaching this is the right way. One of the things that has made WoW as big of a success that it is today is the huge player following they had generated through their previous titles. If they produce a successful predecessor with KoA: Reckoning they will have a strong advantage when they do release thier MMO. Take SWTOR it has some of the best release sales to date and it had very popular and successful console predecessors. Here's to hoping that Reckoning is a hit, and from the looks of the demo it has a really good chance.
Only down side for me was the in ability to zoom out. With the world being as lustrous as it is I would of like to have seen more of it and less of the back of my toon.
