Why do you think all great actors eventually want to play a bad guy? Because they're more interesting.

@Saucelah : Alliance outnumbered Horde on most servers in WoW's early days. A turnaround started when battlegrounds were launched (as a lot of Alliance rerolled Horde to avoid long queues), and gained a lot of momentum. As far as I know, on every server that launched in the last few years, Horde massively outnumber Alliance, sometimes in the order of 10:1.

Really depends on the realm.

From data in Warcraftrealms, Alliance outnumber Horde 1.3:1 in general (and 1.8:1 in PvE realms), but if you look only at PvP realms, Horde outnumber Alliance 1:1.4 .

What's worse, players knowingly transfer or re-roll on the more populous faction. Few people like to be the underdog, most players just want to win in PvP, so they go to the already winning side.

@DarkWalker

They don't just want to win in pvp.

They want the biscuits you get for winning. It doesn't sound like much, but theirs a big big difference.

Games that leverage that sentiment properly stand a much better chance of sorting out the mess. Games that don't suffer for it.

Bioware has shown they don't understand this. In fact, the update before this they decided it was smart to give LESS reward to the losers than they were already getting (which was less than the winners) because they thought the people leaving matches were trying to exploit the games into being shorter so they could farm more.

Personally, I think they just left cause no one likes getting face rolled... but thats not the point, the point is.... Give more biscuits to winners, and people will be compelled to pick the winning team every time when asked to join. If you can't make it interesting to play as the underdog, it never ever will stand a chance against the other if theirs a choice.

@demonlife I started Republic and went Imperial. Why? Animation delays. It's ridiculous that such a glaring issue has made it to the live game. What I mean is that the ablities of some of the Republic classes take more time to do damage than their Imperial counterparts. So a Jedi Shadow's Project ability, which is an instant-cast damage ability, takes about 1.5 seconds before it actually does damage because the character is doing the animation of picking up an environmental object and hurling it at the enemy. The Sith Assassin's Shock ability, which is the mirror ability of the Shadow's Project, has no such delay. It just leads to a very unresponsive feel when playing a Jedi Shadow. The same is true for a Trooper's Full Auto and Mortar Volley and the Bounty Hunter's Unload and Death from Above abilities. Trooper's have an unbearable delay while the Bounty Hunter's doesn't.

So you see, I wanted to play on the Republic side, but due to Bioware's negligence and apparent incompetence, I'm forced to play on the Imperial side if I want to have fun.

The developers have enoughe vidence in previous games to suggest an embalance, why from a design standpoint, did they ever feel like their particular model was going to work better than the others is beyond me.

I'm a republic player, and i regret it. I could re-roll, or I could cancel... I cancelled a few weeks ago. I'm big into pvp and this just further proves that they're not that interested in handling their pvp game features properly.

Not a big deal, its probably a better PVE game than it is PVP anyway. I'll go play something else.

To be fair, the headline says "-A- mess", not multiple messes.

This game is plagued with lazy game mechanics and poor implimentation by bioware.

It's like Bioware studied all the problems and solutions that other MMOs had spent years learning and COMPLETELY DISREGARDED THEM.

All the innovations that other MMOs have integrated into their games over the last few years are completely absent from SWTOR.

I play this game to see the story lines of the classes then the game is being uninstalled from my hard drive.

...and this is why when people ask and complain about when GW2 will be released Anet just says, "When it's ready" and not before. they know it takes time to get it right.

Plus, no pve pk'ing; pve and pvp are different games but can played with the same toon; competitive pvp is skill based and not gear based; world vs world vs world is server based and not faction based.

They know how this stuff should be developed and their closed beta is for internal testing and not open to a bunch of whiny children trying to get free early access to a game.

I don't think they have gone into detail on GW2's PvP system yet have they?

Yes, enough to get a feel for what they are hoping to achieve. Recommend looking at the website for the latest dev blogs and there are some 5v5 pvp videos on YouTube from the shows : )

Depends what you mean. PvP is split between instanced battle grounds, and World v World v World PvP (notice, **3** sides to allow dynamic balance) which is not population balanced.

I have no idea whether it will be fun or not, but I **DO** know that Anet hasn't chosen a fundamentally broken PvP system before they even begin, as Bioware did.

@Mystal

A little extra about World v World v World: the world pairings will be re-done every two weeks, according to how powerful each server is in PvP.

Thus, balance should be preserved even in the long term. If a server becomes more powerful, it should be matched with other more powerful servers.

@GW2waiting lol if you actually believe that. They have a board to answer to just like any other game. If that board gets impatient they will push the game out. Get off your high horse. It will have bugs like EVERY other MMO that has ever been made.

@Clemalum07 bugs yes, but judging by the info released so far, it won't have a broken design.
