Xsyon's PR machine is shifting into high gear of late, and the post-apocalyptic sandbox title from Notorious Games has released another batch of screenshots. This isn't your typical 10-screenshot blast, either, but rather an entirely new gallery section on the official website devoted exclusively to user creations.
Notorious is intent on showing off what it calls player architecture, as Xsyon is one of the few games on the current MMO market that actually allows for unique creations in terms of buildings, structures, and even town layouts. You can see a few of the choice shots in our Xsyon gallery below, but you'll need to head to the game's official website to see them all.

They do realize it's 2012, right? I realize that graphics aren't everything, but this game looks 10 years old.

@Spacegrass You do realize its was mostly made by one guy. Indie sandboxes value gameplay over graphics.

Open world pvp killed any chance of my wife and I trying this game. I don't understand why all sandbox type games think they need open world pvp. One day I hope in my life time I will get to play a game like SWG again. The search continues..........

I've been on both sides of the sandbox FFA PvP issue, but I tend to agree here lately. What I don't get is why PvPers feel the need to migrate to every new sandbox and attempt to take it over.
This behavior is especially ridiculous in Xsyon, which was designed to be a crafting-focused virtual world, not (another) red-equals-dead murder sim with no point to any of the murdering.
PvP is in virtually every MMO (not to mention all the MMO-lite shooters), and some do it really well, so why not stick with one of those?

@Jef Reahard Have any of you guys played the game? The only open pvp areas is the territory outside of your Tribe's land, which can be quite large depending on how big the tribe is. Also, it is primarily a crafting/building sandbox and isn't really focused on the PvP. I mean the combat system isn't even 'done' yet. There's also the fact that if you kill anyone and decide to take their stuff, you'll be overburdened with weight and the crawl back to your tribe's land is a long one.
PvP isn't the focus of this game at all, don't let it scare you off. You have huge safe-zones to stay in if you like, and can venture out if you're feeling brave. Think of it like Wurum with PvP added on. Not many Wurum players would be compelled to go out and kill others, as it's not the focus of the game just like Xsyon.

@Lenn You have somewhat of a misconception there. PvPers like to play against worthy opponents. Most PvP gamers dont look for easy kills like you implied, at least not the ones playing sandbox PvP games.
It sounds like you had a bad experience with a jerk ganking your character in some themepark game. The sandbox community is beyond that, for the most part. There will always be one or two internet-jerks, but we should be used to that by now.

Yeah I've played the game, quite a lot tbh.
I've encountered some PvP, but not much simply due to the huge size of the world. I should have clarified my earlier comment, I guess. I see a lot of PvP advocates on the Xsyon forums, and it gets really old. That's not the focus of this game, and yet there they are trying to make it the focus.

@Mtor
Where did I (or anyone) complain about being ganked?
I asked why players who prefer PvP travel to every new sandbox that comes out and seek to make PvP the focus (regardless of the intended design).

@Jef Reahard I do agree that it's odd that there are as many pvp-advocates in the community as you claim. The focus clearly isn't PvP, and there's plenty of other PvP focues sandboxes too...
I guess they want a game with the crafting/build AND PvP. You can't blame them for wanting that, I do too. It will be interesting to see how the game develops and if they will begin to cater to the PvPers as they further develop the games combat.
