CCP's newest hire is none other than David Reid, formerly of Trion Worlds and NCsoft. Reid steps into the role of chief marketing officer for DUST 514, and Gamasutra reports that he'll also shape the publicity strategy for CCP's upcoming World of Darkness title.
Reid helped launch Trion's RIFT MMO in 2011, and was instrumental in the development of its "we're not in Azeroth anymore" campaign. "We had a great launch with RIFT and I have nothing bad to say about it," Reid explains. "But I have kept my eye on CCP for a very long time."

Hopefully now CCP will actually have a half decent marketing direction.
That is if he stays away from crap like the not in Azeroth campaign. They say all publicity is good publicity and that's something i doubt very much. That ad campaign was pretty bad, the nail in the Trion's coffin for me personally.
But he's David Reid, i'm sure he can do something cool with the cross platform-cross mmo-cross genre idea.

I like to imagine it's one guy who owns a bunch of masks and is good as disguising his voice, but is not very creative when coming up with a new name lol.
Either that or it's like an ancient clan of advertisers named Reid...

While I'm not a fan of the "we're not in Azeroth anymore" campaign, it certainly got people talking. Hopefully, whatever ad campaign comes out of this produces the same results, but through a different method.

Only part I cared about:
"and Gamasutra reports that he'll also shape the publicity strategy for CCP's upcoming World of Darkness title."
Nice to hear -something- about WoD, no matter how small to give a glimmer of hope (also however small).

This is very good news. RIFT had an incredibly successful launch. As a fan of EVE, this makes me eager to check out DUST.

I cannot stress enough the (relatively shorter) lifespan of console games over PC games. Dust NEEDS to be on PC as well as PS3. Otherwise Dust will not survive its first year as a supporting feature of EVE Online. My worst fear in all of this is that Dust will not live up to expectation and be quickly forgotten in the next wave of FPS games to follow it. Leaving EVE Online player with planetary warfare mechanics devoid of soldiers to fight. Much like faction warfare in EVE now. A side thought project that ended up ultimately forgotten/ignored by the players.

The only chance Dust has to succeed is if they release it for PC within a few months of the console release. If they don't Dust is going to fail badly.
