Do you have questions about the Illuminati? Of course you do -- that's sort of their whole method of operation. But when it comes to The Secret World, some of those questions got answered via yesterday's community question-and-answer session on Facebook. While you'll have to Like the page in order to view all of the answers, you're rewarded for doing so with a breadth of facts about the secretive power-mongers and hoarders of secrets.
Among the first questions was the simple one of how the Illuminati aren't in control of everything in the game world if their operatives have infiltrated the highest level of government; as it happens, with the world exploding and lighting up with the supernatural, the Illuminati are too concerned with working overtime to keep things under wraps to try to take total control. The answers also reinforce the idea that the Illuminati crave power and competence above all, up to the organization's willingness to discard lesser members for valuable information. You can take a peek at the full set of answer on Facebook, but keep in mind that you're going to need to Like the page first.

And this would be why I have not viewed any of their faction Q&As, sadly.

With only 3 months until release, I hope and expect to see less "fluff" PR stuff released to the media and more directly relevant and interesting stuff in the lead up to April, for example gameplay footage and/or confirmed included features. I am hopeful about this game but I want to start seeing something interesting that will really make me excited.

@Snichy Funcom is intentionally not giving away much of the gameplay. Partly because they want as little of the actual game to be revealed, and partly because the animations/character models is coming in last.
There has been some beta-footage, but it is usually removed by Funcom within 24 hours due to NDA. I have seen the game live and I think it looks really good. Gameplay-wise they are very closed to finished, it just lacks the last bit of polish to make it glow.

Question and Answer sessions about historically secret groups is quite the contradictory notion to wrap one's head around!

How about some questions about the cash shop? That's the only showstopper I see coming with this title.

I don't see the cash shop being a major issue. They've said it's for clothing and other appearance items (to be clear, clothing doesn't grant stats in TSW). I see it as akin to WoW's cash shop...you can get a few cool looking things, but you can certainly play the game without every bothering...
We'll need to wait and see what it looks like when it's released, but I just don't see it being a problem at this point.

Oh, I have to be a member of FAILbook to see this. If they think the only way to get people to Like them is to bribe them it is just sad. If they didn't learn from the HUGE blowbacck from people wanting to sign up for the beta but would not join FAILbook and play the little FAILbook game first, I am feeling less secure about this game I have been taking part in since the ARG.
