More like squeezing last big bucks out of Everquest 2.

"Sc**w the lore ,get the moneyz"

I am totally not surprised, they want to part as many money out of foolz before big hitters of 2012 and 2013 wreck EQ2 into obvilion.

Im not trolling. I used to be an everquest fan back from '99.
The fact that theyve totally screwed up EQ1 ever since Luclin made me bitter.
Now they are screwing up all of Norrath's lore by adding wings to trolls and ogre's.
And theres no shame.

Gordon Gekko dropped by SOE to give them some "advice" on how to properly run a company.

It will be interesting to see if the F2P model is a successful gambit or end up a giant myth bubble and burst causing a vacuum collapse for MMO's in that model.

MMO market compression - how many $$ are really out there and what is the minimum needed for them to survive on and stay in business?

I dont think devs troll with content, but i have seem some posts/responses that come out by an angry dev every once in a while which i would say amount to the same

What amazes me is that people still support SOE by buying their product after Smedley has been proven to be a bold faced liar, when he promised to never introduce RMT to either EQ or EQ2 and then puled a bait and switch by doing so, thus screwing over all the players who had invested time and money in those MMOs, who were then forced to quit since they would never knowingly choose to play a pay to win MMO.
SOE has mistreated customers in the past, so anyone who pays for their product now really has no right to complain. You get what you deserve when ignore history.

Yes, developers troll their fans. Not all, but it's not that uncommon. And it doesn't stop at gaming devs...guess programmers get bored a lot. Granted, easter eggs are more common in games generally, but trolling does occur.

Some EVE devs troll people, that's one thing i know for a fact. Anything from a line in some small devblog, to various in game chat channels. A few weeks ago they had one live event when they tricked a bunch of players into escorting them somewhere, for the devs to trap everyone at the destination and shoot them in the metaphorical face. Local chat was hilarious.

It's a good thing if you ask me. In an MMO there's much more of a connection between devs and players - in game, forums, fan events, etc. - and that helps everyone in so many ways. Let's face it...it doesn't matter how good the game is, if the player-dev relationship is severely broken, that game has no future at all.

Smedley is the original internet troll, yes.
