I was just about to resub, but then Tera beta was announced :(

I hope Trion make an new mmo in the future, they're a really top notch studio.

@beqerel. My account was stolen and there is no way to get it back. Trion is truly incompetent.

$99 for the year is a great deal. I might just have to pick this up.

I've had the $9.99 per month/6 month deal since launch but I'll probably upgrade to the yearly deal. $8.25/month is nothing and Trion is one dev (the only dev?) that consistently justifies its' subscription price.

./waits for the "Rift is DYING!" prediction, with the timeframe that moves away faster than the arrival date of that rogue planet that starts with Z...

Might not be dying, but times aren't what they used to be. Those subscription rates are great for someone that wants a deal, but they don't speak to a game that's in it's prime.

@Sorithal Oh dear, certainly on it's last legs.

Seriously, it appears from the outside that Trion seems to be responding well to the changing market.

@rgolch WoW had a subscription plan for how many years now? That's right, it has nothing to do with how well a game is doing.

@Braiks

Not at $9.99 a month. And Eve had it's rates as far as I remember. This game will survive, but it's gonna evolve into a nitch playerbase that appreciates the soul system. Otherwise, it's another fantasy genre also-ran.

@fallwind it's not dying, but its discounting itself a LOT considering the surge in popularity it enjoyed at launch. My guess is all the tourists have started packing up and moving to TOR, so they are trying to get new blood in and convince players to stay subbed for longer periods.

Haven't multiple month discounted subscriptions been available in America since the launch? They certainly have been in Europe.

I was going to say the same thing, I've always had the option of multi month subs.

Unless it's something to do with pre-ordering the game?

@Dril Yeah, preorders had the option for multi-month subscriptions at a discounted rate and they had to be subbed continually to retain them. Looks like everyone is getting the same rates now.

Indeed they were, however these are cheaper than the normal prices. - Might even be cheaper than the special offer the first people got.. I really can't remember those prices from a year ago.

While I played Rift since it's beta and really enjoyed it, I found myself rather burned out in recent months (as did my entire guild). My sub is still running.. but i sure as hell am not gonna commit to a multi month sub at this point. Still, it's a great game, if you haven't leveled 4 characters to cap already (as i did) and if you like endgame consisting of instance grinding.

Oh, that explains things. Because I've had a monthly subscription option since launch... which was because I pre-ordered xD
