I have edited my ini file and have turned on as much graphics as I can and it looks so much better.

@Lateris

What you just said has nothing to do with texture resolution. That's not something you can force in the .ini file.

@freebase it looks lovely to me- absolute improvement over the defaults. Yes I know- its offered as an alternative to the current state to help anyone out. I have seen a lot of over kill for PC's built for a game that was always stated as trying to reach as many devices as possible. I myself almost went SLI which is complete and bloody rubbish for this game. I do have to say I have enjoyed switching from ATI to Nvidia.

Hopefully BioWare will find a middle ground similar to how Turbine addresses their texture issues.

Take care

@Lateris Thanks for sharing! I'm always interested in squeezing every last bit of quality out of a game engine... especially when the developers set it to 'cripple' and don't offer any in-game settings to make it look nicer. ;)

@Cyroselle You bet. I know its not the HD texture we all want but it does help. I have an Nvidia 560ti and it is a huge difference as opposed to what I see if I run the defaults on my desktop. I also did the tweak on my asus G73 with a nvidia 460m and it looks great. And finally tried it on my dell XPS with an ATI 5850. Huge improvement.

@Lateris Laterus, I'm curious as to what you did on your G73 to tweak it. I have a G73sw and the game runs like crap on high. It stutters with the shadows on high. Thanks.

@DerpMchurson Sure no problem. I am running an I7 with the Nvidia 460m. I did the usual updates with the asus live connect and tweaked out the files based on this link here for the laptop: http://www.gamefaqs.com/boards/951199-star-wars-the-old-republic/61343050

Make sure you read it all and your display is set correctly That link provides the basic tweaks.

@Lenn (assumes you're revering to the down-vote) or maybe a fair number of massively readers don't like it when someone arbitrarily throws around insults for little reason other than to be-little.

Blah Blah Blah, I don't care, I like the game and having fun playing it. PvP is fun, class quest stories are amazing, the flashpoints I have done have been all good. The game turns 1 month old the 20th...I look forward to all the improvements that comes with a game as it ages. As long as SWTOR doesn't add a future expansion where KungFu Panda's threaten the galaxy, then I'm content.

Also worth nothing is that all of the game's official media, including media released both before AND after the game's launch, use the forbidden high-quality texture setting. Even media that is supposedly showing non-cutscene action, such as world exploration and combat.

The in-game armor textures are absolute garbage. This is sad news for those of us who like crisp graphics,

Still dumb. SWG shipped with options that would completely murder any computer available at the time. But the fact is if you intend your game to last a few years, then new better stuff will become available to make use of it.

Oh well, just put it on the very large list of things to add "in the future"

So, apparently the game cant function with high-res textures as long as people are talking? Okay....

@(Unverified) No, evidently it works fine with high-res graphics when characters are talking, it just can't deal with it when you're out killing ten space-rats. :D

Something strange happened from Beta to launch. The removal of AA and the high resolution textures. Really don't buy the UI bug answer.

Is it too late to get SWG back? :)
