Captain America got his start by punching Hitler in the face, and if it's good enough for him it's good enough for me. I like having Nazis for my heroes to fight (and my villains, because as TvTropes would say, Even Evil Has Standards.)

They've got a couple of very good story arcs, including the Oroborus arc Fall of the Fifth Column, which has one of my all time favourite battles in the final room (even if my allies invariably run in like idiots and die stupidly in the first 30 seconds...)

The replacement of the Fifth Column with Cobra, I mean, the Council is an artifact of early plans, since abandoned and revealed, for City of Villains. Players were going to have a choice of who to be a groveling stooge for, rather than everyone lumped under Arachnos or (heaven forbid!) allowed to be an independent, proactive VILLAIN; and one of the options, along with the Thorns, was...

Well, we can't have players playing Nazis, so quick, let's file off all of the serial numbers and iconography and everything that makes them remotely interesting!

This is one of those cases where I want a time machine (maybe I'll borrow Ubelmann's), so I can send the 2005 team a message: "this is gonna be a huge mess and you'll end up not following through with it anyway, so just don't start. (Also, fire Jack now.)" :p

Ah, the Curse of Jack!

Nice addition there StClair. Some interesting tidbits. Would have made for a much more flexible villainous background. They were probably unduly worried about the negative context of being 5th Column. Look at all the folks who just love the Troopers in Star Wars.

Anyway, it will be nice to see the eventual stake-thru-the-heart of Jack in the upcoming signature arcs.
