Is your Star Wars: The Old Republic loading screen getting a bit stale? Have you always wanted to see your character's mug emblazoned with corporate branding from BioWare, Electronic Arts, and that killer old-school Star Wars font?
Look no further than a cackle-worthy mod recently developed by a Reddit user named ranier511. It's basically a layered Photoshop file, ready and waiting for your avatar's closeup. All you have to do is rename it LoadingScreen.jpg and use it to overwrite the image in your Program files/Electronic Arts/Bioware/Star Wars – The Old Republic/swtor/retailclient/LoadingScreensfolder. PC Gamer has a few examples to get your creative juices flowing, and you'll find the original thread on Reddit.
[Update: Goldnames on the official forums have warned that mods like these can corrupt your game installation, so install them at your own risk!]

....A picture of Jabba the Hut in a bowler hat with an apple over his face a la Magritte, with the caption 'Ceci n'est pas une MMO'?
The DA2 loading screen?
Slave Leia pinup?

This is not mine, but I found this linked photo in the original article particularly "cackle-worthy"!

This is just altering the loading screen; it only affects your client/computer.
Such things have been done with many other MMOs in the past, like CoH and others. It doesn't affect gameplay or even access the game's servers.

Just because it has been done before doesn't mean it isn't against the Bioware ToS and EULA. Those documents have clauses in them against modifying the game files and even something as little as changing a jpeg that only shows for you falls under those clauses.
The ability to enforce it might be low however depending on how advance their bot/hack detection software is. If its anything like Blizzards warden then it could be very easy.

I had screwed around with this in the past... noticed it in there when people were suggesting swtor.ini related settings (which seem to never work with the live client, anyway). Cool to have a layered PSD of the logo stuff, thanks!

Just give it up, dude. You have no idea what you are commenting on.
We could be talking about Dante's Inferno and you'd either suggest it needed more BBQ-pits or that Dante should never wear fur....
