Narrated by Matt Miller and Sean McCann, the video goes into detail about the powers of the survivors and their roles in the game, from Positron to the now-marked Statesman. It's a useful refresher on the game's lore, so if you're looking forward to the remainder of the signature arc and want to get a refresher on some of the fine points of lore, jump past the break for the video.

The Surviving Eight, the members of the Freedom Phalanx, are the most important heroes in the mythology of City of Heroes. But in the not-so-distant future, they're going to be down a member as the game's first signature arc reaches its conclusion. In case you're not totally familiar with the characters in question, however, you're in luck -- the latest video documentary shows off the big eight in all their glory, explaining how they got where they are and what the team hoped to explore with each character.

If Back-Alley-Brawler combatted the drugs gangs in the Seventies - (I assume he was at least 20 yrs old) - then he is nearer 60 now?. O.o

Yes. He's getting up there, along with the core Phalanx are at this point.
Positron, Synapse and Manticore were all at least in their 20's in the mid 80's according to the lore. Ms. Liberty is 31 or so; pretty old for a sidekick in a miniskirt.
The others like Statesman, Sister Psyche and Numina at least have powers that keep them young. The rest are just lucky, or there's an untold story about how they stay so well preserved.

Signature story Arcs...A year ago they were saying this feature in DCUO was horrible because you feel like a sidekick...now they're adding it to their game.

Another example of why I don't want to see developers doing these sort of video's, dude looked and sounded sick.

They forgot to include Synapse in the Vidoc it seems.
@YellowDancer
City of Heroes have in the old content sort of handled the player characters as "sidekicks", which they started to change. In the ongoing signature story arc you are playing more as one of multiple characters either with or against the Freedom Phalanx. Not the same as DCUO, IMHO.
@UnSub Flying carpets was introduced in EQ2 a few years ago, not quite pioneered by Champions. But yeah, Paragon Studios are obviously looking at what the others in the superhero space are doing.

It is nice to see an MMO launched in 2003 or 04 (aside from WoW) that is still healthy and vibrant.
