Just started trying out this game a few days ago, nice to crafting being added :)

It's been fun so far. Was kind of shocked that you can't just make a super strong guy that punches people in the face. Choosing the "inspired by Superman" preset gives you fire powers? Hm.... And also electricity is a healing set. And I'd have expected Hard Light to be kinda tanky as opposed to control, but that might be more of a personal issue.

But the combat system's different so I'm giving it a chance. The races and collections are fun, too.

Well, the next added Powerset / DLC is rumored to be the long "removed for release" Physical Powerset, because if you notice, the Healers and Controllers have 3 Powers, the Tanks have 2. The third, as even the devs have said "Nobody on EARTH is ready for this", or some variation of that quote.

Tells me that its either a Earth-Based Power, or it has to do with the Gods.

If I were to guess, I would say the next xpack will be based around Lobo.

Earth Powers or a physical power set are both wins in my book. I guess well will see next month.

It's definitely earth. If you look at the power sets in the game files there are folders for lightning and earth in there almost since launch.

What we really need is a higher level cap, 50 should be sufficient but I'd settle for 40. More power sets are never a bad thing though.

Superman is ice, not fire. Flash is fire. Both bugged me too but what can you do? I mean if you are gonna be super strict with canon Flash wouldn't have anything besides speed and, and you can just make Superman a brawler and input into the iconic powers and flight skills to get an almost half-accurate Superman. You'll be clobbered in PvP, but it can be done.

@Vic Fontaine The skill point system means that there really isn't a need for more "levels". It just needs to keep adding more, and more challenging, content.

physical wasn't removed for release, it never existed it's just wanted by many going all the way back to beta. Atomic, lantern, electricity and earth were removed for release, two of which have been added since and Earth seems the next likely target (and atomic is likely after that...they've already paid for the animations so why not use them)

also at Vic Fontaine

honestly the iconic powers and travel powers need some serious reworking to be on par with power set powers because currently beyond one iconic and maybe 1 or two powers in each movement set the rest are completely rubbish

Guys is what I'm seeing on all the message boards true? Can you only buy recepies with real money or if you are "legendary"?

god now I wish I hadn't blown $20 on Green Lantern/Flash DLC a few days ago! I haven't logged in yet but if what I'm reading is true the game has essentially became pay to win overnight!

@Vic Fontaine Recipes also drop off bosses. Don't know if any plans are exclusive to the vendors but it only costs a couple bucks worth of SC to access $25k from escrow.

I don't see how it's any more "pay to win" than needing to pay for new content which gives new gear. You need to pay to get full unrestricted access to features, that's how F2P works. If it's possible to craft good gear then of course it's going to cost a lot of ingame money.

Don't get me wrong, I have no problem paying for the DLC packs. But having to have a subscription to get the good gear is much different than buying a $10 DLC pack to support the game.

I haven't been able to log in to check myself, but I've read that the blueprints themselves or the loot you make is tradable so you can get someone to buy them for you and pay them with colas or something. Apparently you can also pay a one time fee to increase your escrow.

Also apparently bosses drop blueprints as well. And the best ones cost marks. Not sure what that means exactly but, from what I've read on the official forums it all adds up to it being pretty easily for premium players to get things crafted.

Considering they are being sold at 1million or higher, I'd have to buy $1,000 dollars worth of escrows :/

The new gear in the DLC is less than the T3 gear soooo doesn't really work on that level and the weapons are basically the same just with a different proc as the top level drops.

Ermmm escrow for the prices in question aren't a one time fee, escrow being only a TEMPORARY $25,000

This game was a very pleasant surprise. I never heard of it before it went F2P, so I can't really say anything about it before that time but right now the game is a blast. Their free to play model is also really good. It is actually too good. I am still a free player, and only purchased the DLC so far.

I mean their subscription doesn't really give you anything extra over the free players. They don't even offer you any kind of monthly stipend for subscribing! The extra credit limit doesn't really hinder me much and I raid on a regular basis. Hopefully they don't change their F2P model to be as horrible as the EQ2 model, where you are required to pay real money to equip the gear you earn as quest rewards!

It didn't until yesterday's update man, but from what I've read it does now. I was more than willing to pay for silly little skins/transformations because, as stupid as that was, I can't afford a sub. as high as $15 right now and I wanted to support the game. And that's the way it should be, other than adding an extra level or two for premium for those who spent maybe $30, $50, ect. I think it was an awesome system. However, if you alienate the F2P players those with subs are going to have a LOT less competition in the endgame content as soon as everyone gets wise. And why maintain the sub when there's nobody to play?

I think that's a damn shame because between the license (dear god I love Hamill/Conroy as Joker/Batman) and the gameplay I've been playing this nearly every day. Doesn't change the fact that I can't afford a sub now (who can in this economy), and if I'm gonna start getting clobbered in new PvE that require this upgraded gear I'm gonna get frustrated and quit. I think this is especially important to remember on DC Universe because a large portion of it's player base, including myself, are playing on PS3 where subscriptions (outside of PS+ which offers amazingly great free games/discounts) are unheard of.

Anyways I'm sorry for the rant but I do love this game and care about it's future, both as a gamer and a DC fan. I am worried about the path they appear to be starting down because I'd hate to see this game fail, especially after such a strong F2P transition. Even though it's free, it's hard enough getting people to try it since it takes like 12 hours to download and can't be done in the background (not to mention the like 20 gigs of space it takes), but if word gets out that it's free to play nobody else will try, and thus nobody else will sub.

Hopefully they won't forget it's the F2P players that make having a sub worthwhile, there's no reason to pay for an MMO if nobody's playing.
