@valdi313
I think the word you were looking for is "mehhh...." While the landscapes and animations do look great, I have zero desire to actually play in that kind of setting.

@(Unverified) Exactly opposite here, I've always wanted to play in this particular kind of setting.

@paterah Same! I desperately wish someone would succeed in making a truly AAA+ quality Wuxia MMO game!

@Saker Glad to see more Wuxia fans, haters gonna hate I guess. Btw this looks like the first true Wuxia game and not a fantasy game with oriental skin. Looking forward to hear more.

@(Unverified) Agreed, doesn't at all look like a half arsed reskin of a fantasy MMO. Hopefully they can get some decent language conversion in, and I'm also hoping it doesn't turn out to be a grindy mess like most Chinese MMOs.

Jesus, you chose the ugliest screenshot out of the hundreds they released. Do you have something against the game?

Blade and Soul, while stylistic, I think goes to far and appears to be a travesty to the human form and is a blasphemy to real world anatomy. If the humans in that game weren't so stylized as to look like aliens it might have promise, but they took the art direction too far I feel. Especially with the women. I can't even begin to go into how badly the proportions are off. I understand it's the style, but it makes me think of the uncanny valley, it's just that they are slipping the opposite direction from it.

/jealous! I wanna play it so bad. I'm getting it when it comes out in Korea and running a Korean IP address just so I can play it. I don't care if I can't read anything, IT'S JUST SO FREAKING PRETTY!!! That and the gameplay actually looks pretty awesome.

Looks like it might be the US name, and it's still Wulin in EU ( http://en.wulin.gpotato.eu/mini/ ), wouldn't be the first game that did that...

I'll be trying it out, if there aren't any IP blocks... Got my wall climbing and jumping fix from DCUO but i need my Chinese fix. :)

@Dumac It's the same - they've changed the name slightly for the western version.

"Wulin"

"In modern Chinese culture, jianghu is commonly accepted as an alternative universe coexisting with the actual historical one in which the context of the wuxia [a fictional kung-fu story] genre was set ....

Wulin is a term referring to the smaller microcosm within jianghu. Inhabitants of wulin are clearly differentiated from those within jianghu, in that they all know some form of wushu or martial arts. And the way to differentiate the good from the bad within wulin is the code of xia, those who adhere to it are good, those who do not are bad."

"Wushu"

"Kung-fu and wushu are terms that have been borrowed into English to refer to Chinese martial arts. However, the Chinese terms kung fu and wushu have distinct meanings;

Wǔshù literally means "martial art". It is formed from the two words (wǔ), meaning "martial" or "military" and (shù), which translates into "discipline", "skill" or "method."

In Chinese, kung fu can also be used in contexts completely unrelated to martial arts, and refers colloquially to any individual accomplishment or skill cultivated through long and hard work. Wushu is a more precise term for general martial activities."

it's basically the same name, one could be literally translated as "Age of Martial Artists from a fictional world" while the other would be "Age of Martial Artists".

they probably changed it because there undoubtedly will be IP bans between the EU and US versions, and that always turns into cluster fuck if both have got the same name.

That's very informative. :) I get lost in all the different terms China has for martial arts and associated themes.

Finally I've been waiting since early last year for this game. Literally the first of its kind.

I am confused by the "Literally the first of its kind." comment. I don't see or have heard anything that is "special" about this game other than you can run up walls.

@Maseno Too many to list, you can google around if you want. Basically many of the things in this game have never done before.

While I am not trying to rain on the parade of this game (I myself will probably play it), your statements hold no truth. Yes it has some features that aren't in your everyday MMO, but it is nothing new. It is a compilation of different things from different games. It is effectively redressing aspects of other games, just as SWTOR puts new glitter on basically everything WoW is, but in space.
