Wargaming.net is allowing players to participate in a little revisionist history by unleashing French designs into World of Tanks. Will the Germans finally get what's coming to them, or will the Panzers dominate as they did back in the 40s?
With today's Update 7.1, the French have arrived in the game with several new tanks available for players to drive. Light, medium, and heavy versions of French armor will present a new twist on the established gameplay, with choices like the AMX 13-90, AMX 40, AMX 50 B and Lorraine 40t that feature automatic loading systems and oscillating turrets. Later this year Wargaming.net will add French tank destroyers and SPGs as well.
Lead Game Designer Mike Zhivets believes this will present a unique challenge for players who think they have it all figured out: "Our players already know how to play with the 'big three' tank nations, but the French are all-different. You'll have to reconsider the way you think tanks behave before they let you tame them. And that's what we love them for!"
You can scope out these French beauties in the gallery below.

The Lorraine 40t is an absolute monster. Until they nerf its 90mm gun expect to see it dominate the battlefield.

"French tanks rumble into World of Tanks looking for payback"
My, my...
My own stereotypes are still in place as I LOLed at this while reading that title.
Poor French guys...
Well, I like their Art Museum. I like Paris. I even like their fries.
(Wait...one of those things are actually an American invention....)

I know about the history, but relying on one's past achievements, particularly a country doing that, can lead to other countries snickering at you.
Even China had great advancements in it's day and has only recently come up in the world, but mostly due to Clinton getting them on the WTC and American Corporations taking advantage of the labor there.
True, I may be bashing France, but most of the world has done it and you should see England bashing France (Of course, there is a historic rivalry to consider, too.)
Yes, my Joke was a Joke, but at least we are getting some interesting info about these tanks.

FRENCH tanks???
You know why the streets in Paris are lined with trees, don't you? It's so the German soldiers can march in the shade.

Actually,French armor at the start of WWII was considered comperable to any any armor in the world. The problem wasn't the tech, but rather faulty strategy. The tanks were scattered around in numbers too small to be really useful & were considered support for the infantry instead of powerful weopons in their own right. What set German armor apart & made their tanks so devastating was how they were used as opposed to any major tech superiority.

Be sure to claim your new years free tank the MkVIII Tetrarch if you haven't already.
French tanks were good, just slow and used to back up infantry or replace cavalry. The french were good tank builders as the tier 1 tank the Renault was the most widespread tank before WW2.
Germans used the Spanish civil war to basically 'beta test' their blitzkrieg tactics with the panzer tanks.

Yay for Frenchies! Now I can eat these tanks made out of cakes and enjoy it too!
Ironically, the historical tanks in the tree (the H35, B1, FT-17, and eventually the SOMUA) are the least popular because they are slow and have fail guns.

Downloading update and getting ready to rock with these new tanks.
As a side note, it is too bad Massively doesn't censor the overused, quite unfunny French jokes like Wargaming does in its forums. We have heard these unnecessary jokes many times already.

French fries are not french in origin, fyi. And the french tanks, if i remember my military history correctly, and i do, did not do well in combat.
As for the french in combat, they know how to dress, a quote from a famous french general and a movie...."I know i dress to slight excess, but if i am to die this day, i will die well dressed"

Your military history is incorrect. The French tanks did very well in combat. As a matter of fact the PzI and PzII tanks used by the Germans in 1939/1940 could not defeat the French tanks in combat. Even the PzIII struggled. However, the Germans had a superior doctrine, superior mobility, and were not caught out of position like the French were. French tanks were designed for WW1 static combat, providing infantry support to hold a fixed defensive line, and they did that job well.

Thanks to BrongStrong and h4ngedm4n for putting some historical facts in ignorant minds. It's always a pleasure to read people who have knowledge instead of opinion-based views. :)
