That would be "Godmodeing", yes? As in, entering "God Mode", not modifying God.

@AlucardZero Yeh, that's exactly what I have heard before. But, the players I interviewed all referred to it as "modding" so I kept it in there. I've seen god mode used before, but generally it was for a character who had died or for someone who wanted to make their character related to a major NPC, etc.

Thanks for noticing! :)

@BoundingDeer
it probably got from God Modeing to Godmodding the same way owning got to powning (or however you spell that). I am so happy that term went away.

@Deliverator
i think it was just a misspelling of own to pwn (o and p are next to each other)

@AlucardZero

This term also saw use in the good old fashioned RP chat rooms that used to be pretty common. These were often moderated by GMs or storytellers, so in this context modding could also be moderating, particularly when a player described absolute actions or outcomes.

Off topic as I've yet (regretfully) to try Runescape... the picture at the top reminds me (a little) of the skywalk at the Grand Canyon. Nice to know when the Myans return from their vaca in Andromeda this year (2012) they'll preserve/improve the observation platforms at US National Parks.

Correction... the skywalk doesn't belong to the US. It's under the ownership of the Hualapai Indian tribe. Nevertheless... ;P

World 42 in RS is actually a roleplay themed world. Lots of activity there.

@odericko

Falador is the big town for roleplaying in W42. It can be found in other places, but the focus for RP seems to be the castle of the White Knights.

@odericko Yep, that's where I was in the screenshots. I need to bookmark it or "heart" it as my new favorite server.

Hmm... My only true role-play session was in Age of Conan, just finished arranging stuff on my free level 50 and headed into the an inn in the Stygian capitol. I was just randomly called over the come sit down and chat and was surprised at how much fun it was. I made a friend through that and woulda adventured with him more, but his character hated Stygians, no exceptions.

I wanted to RP in LotRO but every time I pulled out my lute I ended up with the desire to play a modern song or TV theme or something of the sort, the more serious role-players didn't like me too much.

Lol - Early in LotRO I remember running past the auction house in Bree and there was this dude standing out there playing "Don't Fear the Reaper" on his lute. I thought it was the most amazing thing ever before learning that you could import midi files. :)
