Hopefully Bethesda does NOT get its hand on the mmo.

AS much as current interplay is NOT interplay, I am still curious what htey will do. If they do stick to Fallout 1 and 2 lore, it would be UBER AWESOME no matter how much the other parts of game are implemented.

On other hand Bethesda Fallout mmo would be just same boring fallout 3 with utterly horrible interface similar ot Skyrim's...uhhh. Not to mention that Bethesda does not really GET Fallout as Fallout 3 was way too serious and way too grim and not sarcastic/cynical enough.

@Kitanishi Interplay is "NOT" developing the game Masthead Studios is and we already know what they can (or can't) do.

@Kitanishi Fallout 3 was an amazing game, maybe Fallout NV even more so which also was truer to the lore but for what it's worth I'd rather see Bethesda rather than Masthead develop a Fallout MMO.

I can't see Bethesda making an MMO; they're doing single player games quite well, and a lot of fans would be very angry if they did something else. Bioware was good at single player games too, but they're more a brand than a single developer; they can make three games at a time. I don't believe Bethesda can focus on making more than one game at a time.

Also, I really want that game to be "The Elder Scrolls VI: Kill All The Thalmor".

@Spacegrass Bethesda Softworks is not the division of Zenimax that makes MMO’s. That division is call Zenimax Online and is comprised of different employees who work at a different side in Maryland.

People just like to toss around the Bethsoft name because it is the side of the company that is well known.

However it would be wrong to assume that Zenimax Online would develop an MMO the same way the team at Bethesda Softworks designs a single player RPG. That would be like someone assuming the next DOOM would be nothing but The Elder Scrolls with a BFG.

The world shall come to an end in 2012.

And the first sign has just came to pass.

Been following this one for a long time.

All the Bethesda haters are hilarious. Yeah...they clearly made a bad game there, huh? You can't bean the fan out of some fanboys, and Interplay made a whole generation of fanboys who are about as close-minded as they come.

Still, this is pretty big news and you can bet that I would follow the development of any Fallout MMO pretty closely.

@ScottishViking Most of the ones who whine about bethesda weren't old enough to play the original games, really. I've loved every game in the franchise so far, and I honestly think the people complaining are malcontents who're always looking for things to complain about, or are elitist children trying to be edgier than their friends.

"I played fallout before it was cool/popular/ruined by bethesda."

They're all pretty good games really.

@Azules

Yes, they're all great games. And people tend to forget how crippled by bugs those early Interplay games were...almost to the point of unplayability, on many early releases. Also, Fallout: Brotherhood of Steel was a huge pile of garbage. But because Bethesda decides to do something different, they get castigated. I do find that many fanboys are older, but that may be the types I associate with. Suffice it to say that the success of Fallout 3 speaks for itself.

commercial success of product NEVER speaks for its quality. Only about mainstream accessibility. :)

Case in point: Twilight. World of Warcraft. etc. :)

Never? Really? This is a time-worn and fallacious argument: that popularity and quality are diametrically opposed. Having proved time and again that it can produce high-quality, deep, and immersive games, I'm continually surprised that people continue to call Bethesda's stab at the Fallout IP a "failure." Such proclamations only reveal that the haters made up their minds long before the game came out.

@Azules It's also "Cool" to hate the popular thing because then you don't need to worry about how much of a social outcast you are.

Outcast:"I don't care what that Cheerleader thinks, she's braindead"
Braindead Cheerleader: "Wanna hang out sometime?"
Outcast " Oh Yeah, HELL YEAH"
Braindead Cheerleader: "Yeah, get real, loser"
Outcast:"I didn't want that self worth anyways"

Me: "Thank you, please tip your Usher on your way out."

Looks like Bethesda got thumped, and now they'll have to pay up. It's a good thing too since Interplay isn't producing a shallow and restrictive wow-clone themepark. Go Interplay.

Really? Are your rose tinted glasses that opaque that you've already forgotten the drivel that Interplay produced in its last few years of existance, when it stopped paying its own workers, got kicked out of the building it was renting, and closed the studios that were responsible for the only good things it ever made?

Saying "Go Interplay" is like cheering the guy repeatedly kicking you in the balls. Its self destructive.

Yes Interplay went though bad times, and that sometimes happens, but it doesn't necessarily diminish their desire to create a great game. And what you cite as, "...the drivel that Interplay produced in its last few years[...]" were just that, the last few years when they were going trough bad times, which was due to a financial strait, not because Interplay is or was a bad company.

I would much rather see Interplay give it a shot, than see the same Bethesda game produced again and again with different wrappers.
