Funcom's future is looking pretty bright according to a report at Views and News from Norway. The site says the development firm behind Anarchy Online, Age of Conan, and The Secret World topped the Oslo stock exchange last year and saw its share price rise by 227%.
AoC has "sold well and still generates income for Funcom," says the report, but the real cause for optimism is the positive buzz surrounding The Secret World. Funcom head honcho Trond Arne Aas says that the firm has received "very good feedback" from both testers and journalists, and it's a good thing since the company absorbed a third quarter loss despite its share price increase.
"We're investing heavily in The Secret World now, therefore the loss," Aas explained. "But we're hoping for major income after the launch in April."

you're assuming I'm not. You're also assuming that (if I am, and I'm not saying that I am) that it is my first MMO beta. Add to that, your assumption that the other games I've beta tested for haven't had FAR more problems at launch, let alone closed beta *cough*WoW*cough*CoH*cough*Rift*cough*
Sorry, had something in my throat there...

This really needs to be a smooth launch for Funcom, and the game absolutely must be ready for prime time as well. I am neutral about the IP, but if it is well written, I can see myself getting into it. The graphics, lighting, motion quality, etc. should put all other MMO's to shame. If the game has fun, solid gameplay to match, we could have a winner here!

Please hurry and get here Secret World (SWTORs lazy game mechanics and art direction are losing their luster). The Secret World is the only MMO that I am looking forward to playing.

It seems the things I might be learning so far are this:
A strong backbone for the game, with consistent and exciting mechanics seems to come out swinging.
What I mean is that if you strip a game down to its bare bones, and you leave nothing but the combat, questing, and UI and that is not fun, then you have a problem. Nothing else exists. Add to that later the capability and encouragement to work with others, and you have even more fun.
Appeal to a persons vanity, make them feel special, take them out of their everyday lives and give them an experience of an amazing life they don't life. If you do that, and you do it very well...you will succeed.
I think that the secret world appeals to a lot of people frankly. It seems to be a good looking and fun game. But the question remains: What would it be like if you stripped it down to its bare essentials? Would you still play it?

I would have played the game even if there were only riddles and investigations. Funcom is not targeting the mass(fickle minded) like Bioware but rather a niche but loyal followers.
Funcom will have to have an almost perfect launch + a polish, with a minimum bugs game if they want to mean business or else they will be dead on arrival.

Wow, they topped the Oslo stock exchange.
I guess that's about on par with bragging you're the richest man in Ethiopia.

Considering on just how disappointing TORCRAFT was(well no surprises there since the old Bioware has been dead since Dragon Age II),
Since Archeage I doubt will come to west in 2012, TSW and GW2 are the only hope for good mmo this year.

I know it's "Cool" to hate swtor and all that, but stfu. This is TSW's area, If TSW continues to look good, It will be my MMO mistress. I can't wait to try it.
but PUHLEASE Don't take a dump in a box and say Buy AoC2, Make this a GOOD game.
