I did a search on the term because I hadn't seen it before. Then I clicked the image search tab. I hope the cops aren't on their way. It appears that Ecchi means soft core porn for people who are terribly afraid of women at best. At worst it looks like stuff for pedophiles who expect to skate by because they are looking at cartoons.

Accurate?

It's basically means anime/videogame/cartoon softcore porn.

I think your confusing the pedophile part with Lolicon/Shotacon, young girls/boys love. (Stating that thou, we are still talking about works of fiction, so terms like pedophile which depicts attraction to real children does not apply here. At best it's just creepy if people take it too seriously.)

In the case of Queens Blade, it just pathetic pandering.

Well, at least it ain't Half Elf Tentacle Assault Online, right?
Better Ecchi than all-out Hentai I say. If a game managed to release itself to some public success like that, THEN I'd lose hope for humanity.

Not accurate. It just refers to eroticism or 'naughtiness'.

You are correct. I don't consider ecchi a form of porn, softcore or otherwise. Sometimes derragatory, sexist, annoying and unecessary...but not porn.

I also find interesting that Yoh appears to have Yoruichi Shihōin (a death god character in Bleach) for his/her avatar who is depicted on the occasion as highly sexualized. This would constitute as ecchi...though I doubt Yoh would consider that pornographic. Just saying.

Well, I don't think this is based on the Japanese lightly Pen-n-Paper Queen's Blade, even though they also have an abundance of sclantily-clad women there, too.

I can't bring up the website fully for some reason. Are there no male gender-locked classes? Judging from the trailer, it would seem not. So, this is yet another rare example (along with the Japanese game) of the name being actually right and surface-related to the game, since Queens tend to be all female...

@Space Cobra

I beg your pardon sir, but there are bars all over the world positively filled with male queens. ;P

OMG. You can't be serious. So many awesome anime franchises out there and they make an MMO out of THIS one!?!?

*cue bitter tears of bitterness*

@Ghostspeaker This isn't the anime queen's blade. The game looks like it borrows a lot more from Phantasy Star Online in its color palette and stylings. QB was traditional high fantasy.

Sometimes a game looks terrible on paper but is quite fun to play.

Maybe I'll wait to pass judgement until some folks have tried it.

I think I threw up a little in my mouth.

Look, there's nothing wrong with softcore porn, but it's something to be kept as a private, individual experience, not turned into a Massively Multiplayer Online Orgy. Especially since this treads a fine enough line for ratings systems to allow young teens in. Hnnnngh.

Yes. I'm offended. Specifically I'm offended that all it seems to have going for it is trashy looking bimbos. Sex is great and porn can be a really positive thing. This is not.

I'm all for sexy women in games, but it's not that hard to avoid making them such incredibly negative role models. The people behind this clearly don't care about real women at all.

So all you've seen is a trailer and you're already jumping to conclusions about gameplay, art design, environment, sound, story, etc....based on the fact that the game has hyper-sexualized females.
