@Sorithal

more fuel for something they're already determined for doesn't really make a difference in the end. There isn't many governments that aren't working for their people that wouldn't want to control the internet.

Funny how they are just going after Sony when there are many other groups that have had far bigger input into the Bill.

Why aren't they attacking Go Daddy? Why aren't they going after the music and movie industry?

It's like bunch of kids are pissed off at what a kid said in front of them and they beat the crap out of the kid beside them that chuckled at what the other kid said instead of going after the kid that said it.

Anon isn't going after GoDaddy because there was already a boycott campaign against them that successfully sucker punched the company into withdrawing support from SOPA.

Anon isn't going after the music and movie industries in general because it's too broad of a target and there's no guarantee that they would be able to effectively shutter their ability to conduct business.

Instead, Anon is going after Sony because they know Sony is vulnerable to their attacks, and that they can potentially hurt Sony enough to convince them to drop support for SOPA.

I'm against SOPA, but I don't think that Anonymous is doing their cause any good with their threats.

Yea because it's the customers, and their personal data, that pay the price.

I'm also against SOPA, completely against it...but I also play Ever Quest. :(

Why is it only Sony? Anonymous are pricks to say the least. Stealing money from companies and trying to give to charities only that the charities have to give it back AND pay back charges.

What a rip.

Why would they when their customers are supporting Sony (by not canceling subs/accounts/whatevers) who are supporting SOPA?

...and what if they did cancel their sub? However all their info is still there?

Just because you play an MMO that SOE makes, does not mean that you support SOPA.

This is why things like this are never going to work, it will punish the people that really just need to be educated, and no one learns anything.

"Just because you play an MMO that SOE makes, does not mean that you support SOPA."

Indirectly it does, Sony wouldn't be in a position to support or not without it's customers thereby anyone still giving Sony money is supporting them which int urn supports SOPA. This is where a big difference being Sony customers and GoDaddy customers come up, GoDaddy customers boycotted and left to the point GoDaddy lost huge amounts of money and had to withdraw...what are Sony customers doing? nothing.

If you go for the "indirectly" argument, anyone can be supporting anything by doing anything. New things come to light every day, and new exaggerations built by the minute.

That's an excuse to do bad things to good, but uninformed, people. What about the people who unsubscribed? Who may have been a Sony customer at one time but now isn't?

Painting everyone with one brush, and hurting them all, will not help the cause.

Besides...

For one: you DO realize that you are asking to kill EVERYONE in the internet right?

Unless you are actively sharing your real name and adress YOU TOO are "Anonymous"

For second point, while there are many "initiatives" that are counter-productive or makes no sense at all being undertaken upon the banner of anonimity, this is not one of them. This IS one thing everyone should support. SOPA, PIPA being passed should be stopped ANY MEANS necessary.

Let's also not forget European Union's ACTA which is just as dangerous to the concept of internet.

No Anonymous are a group that's hacking for their own selfish intents. THAT's Anonymous.

What you're talking about is just anonymous.

I understand why Anonymous opposes SOPA but I don't completely agree with their methods.

The only legitimate way to effect any change in our political system is to let our voices be heard in the public forum. What we, as individuals, can do is let our elected officials know that we do not support the initiative that these two bills propose.

If you feel strongly against SOPA & PROTECT-IP then please follow this link and let your local representatives know that you oppose these bills:
