As 2012 rolls in, many gamers are rejoicing that they might make it to a year that Diablo III actually releases. Blizzard's action-RPG will certainly be a hit on the PC, although console fans may have more hope today that Diablo III could reach the shores of their platform.
According to a job posting on Gamasutra, Blizzard is hiring a "Senior Software Engineer Console Network" to work on the Diablo team. It's a full-time position that will be in charge of designing and working on network systems for a console title. One of the requirements for the job is that the person have worked on a major Xbox 360 or PS3 title and have a good amount of experience with PSN and Xbox Live.
While this is not the first indication that Blizzard is working on a console version of Diablo III, it certainly lends credence to the notion that the company is actively working on it. The studio previously said that the title "is probably coming to consoles."

I was hoping this one wouldn't get dumbed down for consoles like DA:2 did.

It's hilarious when people complain about the Diablo series being "dumbed down" due to consoles; as if the series were ever complex or needed more than a few buttons to play anyway. Diablo's gameplay is about as simple as it gets; you left click on shit and it dies. If you're feeling feisty then you can right click every now and then. And you spam 1-4 whenever your health gets low. There; you've now mastered every skill you need to beat Diablo 1 and 2.
Not to mention that the original Diablo had a Playstation port.

While the hotkey and general gameplay hasnt changed. The skill trees and leveling system has. While it is a matter of personal opinion, I find the new Diablo 3 to be a step backwards from its predecessors in relation to its abilities/skill/attributes system.

It's funny because Blizzard denied they were working on a console version in the first place, but here we have some strong evidence that they are (or will be after the PC launch).
Some folks brought up about some of the control schemes like placing an AoE spell, but I can think of a few ways to do that on a console's controller.
I also. especially at this point with "required online play", be happier if they made a version for consoles. And yes, they did make the first Diablo for the PS1, so this is not exactly virgin territory for Blizzard.

They said they weren't working on one at that moment, but we've known they had been "looking into it" for awhile due to past job postings. In fact, the position mentioned in this article sounds familiar; it wouldn't surprise me if it's the same position that's been on their site for awhile now.

'We're making a console port' high up on the list of things I never want to hear about a favorite PC game, right up there with 'We're making this game more accessible for casual players' and 'We're implementing Facebook and Twitter functionality!'
Ugh
Ugh

Just as an aside to my own post here: Also I really REALLY don't want them to make a console port of D3 because then the masses will get used to the idea of RMT auction house, and I really REALLY REALLY don't want to see that become standard. That little money-grubbing feature can stay quarantined, thanks.

Honestly, Blizzard is pretty much a sell-out at this point in time. Diablo III sounds like it'll just continue the trend of Blizzard screwing up their original games akin to what Starcraft II and World of Warcraft have done.
Meanwhile their top WoW developers are busy working on an MMO that we've barely heard anything about ever since it was mentioned over. . . 3? 4? years ago. The latest news they've released in the MMO world is "HEY GUYS, YOU CAN BE LIKE JACK BLACK IN OUR KUNG-FU PANDA EXPANSION!"
-.- I've grown bitter with Blizzard.
