Are you kidding? Darkfall's Kraken looks so unbelievably bad that it is the baseline by which to compare the world's worst animations/graphics to.

Now this kraken I must say is actually really amazing looking, and is the best seamonster I've ever seen in a mmo. (Hell it isn't too bad compared to "all" games.)

Very cool. And the attack is quite cinematic in its suspense and buildup. Those spouts and splashes of water without the creature surfacing? Nice touch. :)

Cool in concept, pretty crappy in execution. The rampant glitches and obvious lack of collision detection really made the whole thing look pretty blah to me.

@Warsyde Do you not play MMOs much? Every MMO has awful collision.

@Tizmah

Well most mmorpg's does not have collision at all.

ArcheAge DO have collision between characters. At least I saw few videos on land when collison worked preety good between player characters.

That's like better than 95% of current mmropg's :)

Still there is a limit to everything.

I do not want perfect game, I just want game that is good enough and AA seem preety darn good :)

I didn't think it was very good, some of the effects are quite good but the glitches aren't the worst part, the ships were not very convincing in their behaviour at all, it was as if they were made of rice-paper that had the rigidity of titanium, no weight, no inertia, buoyancy was nowhere to be seen.

The problem with doing ships is to pull it off convincingly the physics has to be there, hydrodynamics too, the graphical fidelity only makes that lack of physics all the more apparent, in fact you could be far more convincing with the right physics & way worse graphical aesthetics.

It comes off looking half-assed.

@SkuzBukit

This is what Close Beta is for and it is called testing.This mechanic was recently added together with the third continent.So there's no need for your "blase" attitude.

This game has a lot more than many live games released in the west.

@(Unverified) If this is what the game looks like, while it's still in glitch-land(sometimes called Beta), then I'm impressed - Especially at the prospect of any amount of those glitches and bugs being gone by release, but not turned off if they remain.

I really hope they port it to the US without changing the gameplay experience, at all, to "appeal" to a Western audience.

Overall, not to bad. I agree that there are glitchs and the physics of the game suck so bad it it had to get over but it is a lot better than most of the games out there. At least they got the Kraken right.
If it were not for the way the ships acted this would almost be a step forward.

Looks remarkable. Just work out them bugs and give us a possible US release date and were good. Sadly, if we do get it, it will be in 3-5 years.

Kinda boring... It's like Master and Commander in video game form.
And I disliked Master and Commander.

It's pretty, I guess.

You can see in the last video, we get possibly strong evidence of player-made heraldry on ship sails; That black sails and crossbones is from the manga/anime "One Piece" from Japan. You also see different sails. Unless the devs made this video or just put in such sails "for fun", I would lay claim to this being player-made.

It probably (hopefully) is the same vetting process that "Pirates of the Burning Sea" has (had?) in the same game mechanic: You would submit your design for approval. You'd have to wait and some designs would be censored or flat-out rejected (although examples of overly censored have made their way, such as a simple, stylistic drawing of a mermaid with what amounts to two simple circles showing breasts: the circles were censored/editted out. There was NO detail on those two circles other than two circles).

Maybe not an elegant system, but it probably does most of the job of weeding out undesirable content.
