Star Wars: The Old Republic is less than a week old, and many players are already wondering if and when BioWare is going to add new content. Yes, there are some 50s on the servers already, and James Ohlen has penned a post on the game's official website that should excite those who have already rushed through the game's content.
For starters, January will bring a new flashpoint to the game as well as an expanded operation instance. The former "takes place on a brand new world and involves some pretty epic battles." The latter "takes the existing Karagga's palace scenario and more than triples it in size."
Ohlen says that's just the beginning, too, and BioWare plans on releasing similar new content with regularity. Finally, players concerned over the company's ability to add new story (and voiceover content) will want to check out writer Alexander Freed's post on the official forums. In a nutshell, he says not to worry, as BioWare does have voice actors under contract and can proceed with development without adding much time to the content creation process.
Finally, our sister site reports that TOR has topped one million registered players and over 28 million hours played!
[Thanks to Scratches for the tip!]

New content patched in by January, impressive.
The real question however is how fast can they pump out content once they run out of pre-made content

Damn right about the voice actors, those alone make me want to stick with my companions.
My trooper sure enjoys having a pocket Lassie commenting over his shoulder all the time.

I wonder when they're going to add same-sex romance options to the game... that's when I plan on buying it.
(See http://massively.joystiq.com/2011/09/13/swtor-companions-will-have-same-sex-romance-options-eventuall/ )
Anyway, anyone know the extent/significance if the romance options available in the game/story now? I didn't get very far in beta and I didn't see many signs of space love!

It's really just an unlockable set of companion quests, the romance arcs end just like every other bioware romance arc does, but the thing is it's just that, a quest chain with a romance story to it, even if you end up say marrying your companion they don't do anything differently after you finished your quest chain., they'll react to you the same way they would if you didn't romance them.
Basically, it has more depth than DA2 but doesn't affect you or how your companions react to as the romance arcs did in say DA:O

Honestly, I think it will be something added whenever they release an expansion. So a year out or so.

Normally I'd be worried about MMO-community-homophobia leading to the downvotes of my harmless, relevant comment... but I'm pretty sure it's just the massive wave of SWTOR fans who have a knee-jerk bad reaction to anyone who didn't buy SWTOR on or before launch :P
@Vgk Thanks for the info! The Dragon Age comparisons help since I've been a Bioware fan for almost a decade now and I'm always interested in how they do relationships in their RPGs.
And very clever point about pre-made content!

Lol@you not buying this game because of the lack of gay relationships. Think back to 10 years ago... there wasn't a single gay relationship to speak of in rpg's, let alone video games in general. Why not buy the game and go enjoy your real world same-sex relationship? Its not like their discriminating against you. Hell, as a man playing a male character, I have about half the romance options that a female toon does. Alas, I am not perturbed. Its overall a small part of the game.

You both misunderstand.
I have well over 10 quality single-player games backlogged right now so I'm not looking to sign up for a new MMO. And while I liked SWTOR plenty, I'm not a huge fan of the game. So I decided to put off buying SWTOR for now, but I want to show support for Bioware including same-sex relationships, so I decided that when I do finally buy the game, it'll be right when they add that feature.
I play and love plenty of games and MMOs that don't have same-sex relationships, I never said that the lack of them "holds me back" from playing any games.
Why do people assume that??

@Naru now in 3D You're a ME fan like me as well as a Bioware fan so you know as well I do how relationships are pretty integral to their storylines. At times though I found them forced and felt just like Skyrim's relationship system but just with added dialogue. Sometimes I felt they didn't really add any dimension to the storyline. But that's just my opinion.
Ya know if anything I'd like to see player marriages included into the game than getting together with some soulless npc. Maybe even add buffs for married couples. I can even see interesting storylines if they let Empire/Rep player marriage.

Impressive indeed. Hopefully BioWare will launch with Rift's regularity. If that's the case, TOR can be the next top dog in the Western MMO market.

There were3 level 50's on day two, same Euro guild, exploited the pvp and space game exp for mid to high level, though the person claimed they hadnt, they lied, regardless of stating they had been in all betas and knew all the tricks, something i am sure Bioware has on the table to patch if they havent already. I used the space exp windfall by waiting till a certain level and then completing the huge raft of space missions all at once, this gave me 6 levels in my ship alone in under an hour, though i am not doing pvp at the moment i doubt that exploit will be left live for long. though some people will simply say, "working as intended".
But i am enjoying the storyline and other than the game having no economy (nothing degrades and materials are infinite), dead worlds, a crappy spacegame, low res graphics, no item modification (color, style, etc, lousy character creation choices, landmasses not aligned so one falls through at inopportune times, no ambiance, little to no contentn all betas and knew all the tricks, something i am sure Bioware has on the table to patch if they havent already. @Graill440 Not too many people did go Deep in Crew Skills yet. None of the servers have a real economy going yet. There are no products, materials and no demand yet. Because of this, no one knows the value of credits. The fact is, people highly over value them right now and you can get great deals on the AH (auction house) with them.
This things cost TIME! WoW did not have a great working Economy at the start people really think Economy set overnight the game is only 3 days old official!
And there are a ton of quests codec and other stuff to find and a ton of group content and PVP.... They even have daily's there is a ton of stuff to do when 50 and more coming in real soon!
Also its just the beginning....

@TheJackman "WoW did not have a great working Economy at the start"
I would politely disagree with you there.
WoW was designed from the outset with vibrant crafting and farming system. I think one might argue that the economy was overleveraged in favor of farmers -- from the outset the raid gamers were purchasing materials from the farmers and crafters in such numbers that it inspired a lot of 'asian farmers'.
I remember it well. During the first week of WoW you had a vibrant auction house market for most goods.

@Graill440 I guess I don't know what you require of the economy. It's never been a big deal for me, but I know I made a bunch of stuff, I put it up on the exchange and it sold. I have money I didn't have before using materials I either farmed or sought through missions. Everyone knew what the space game was. To bring it up now like you wer expecting more is a tad dishonest. I don't have my graphics turned up to max a love what i see. I haven't fallen through anything more than anelevater pad and that was in beta. I don't know what you mean by no ambiance . Dead world to me implies I'm there alone and I'm not. Have fun playing.
