Is there a way to submit news?

Bioware had decided to hold the "Free Game Time" to randsom for all of its customers who bought and registered their games now. Apprently your free game time is only free if you give them more money or billing information right now.

Paid £60 for the game and can't log in anymore, 2 days after launch, below is a screenshot of the explanation why I can't log in.

@FrostPaw I thought it was commonplace for an activation for a p2p game to ask for payment details of some kind to accompany it? Did you read up on the game beforehand, to see what was involved in playing?

Yep. I fail to see the controversy. Your card is not charged until the next billing cycle. Just cancel it the day before it is charged.

@FrostPaw

EA is so stupid on this now 2 million people are trying to set up a sub and the link has been dead for 2 hours.
If you have 30 days of game time you shouldn't have to set up a sub to play those days.

@FrostPaw That's not news...Every MMO does that. I've never played one that doesn't.

Here we go, everyone trying to find something to knock off the new kid on the block.

6/6 mmos I've bought that I can remember required that I added a card with my free game time.
I canceled 5/6 of those before the first month. It's nothing new.

@FrostPaw : is TOR your first MMO? I love a good TOR bash as much as anyone, but the fact is, this is absolutely industry standard practice for subscription MMOs and has been since, well, forever.

@Allenomura

Definitely not. Have you never heard of game cards?

MMOs requiring payment details before they'll let you use your free month are the exception rather than the rule, in my experience.

Actually, in defense of Frostpaw, there HAVE BEEN (and still are) MMOs that you can play that do not require a Credit Card. However, the ones I can think of are older and the newer ones that don't need a Credit Card for your free time are really hard to find, especially when you are dealing with a big company. They used to be more flexible to folks (and kids) without a credit card more often than nowadays.

However, the scene has changed, especially for these big companies. I understand Frostpaw's concern because I get lazy cancelling the sub; but that's a common tactic most credit card companies do, so they hope you forget.

To offer advice: For some games, you can put in your Credit Card nummber, accept the terms, and immediately cancel, but that can be tricky.

Game Time cards supposedly came out Dec. 7th for the game. I KNOW they are out now (I saw them). You can go that route, if you don't mind the two extra months.

Many stores sell these debit cards that you pre-load with funds. It's generally a good idea to have one if you do not have a credit card or just don't want you CC info given out. I think you can reload some of them if you need to, but if not, it's easy to get another. What you can do is use that card and make sure you have enough funds to pay for one month of time, then cancel the sub. If you have remaining money on the card, just purchase something online or use it to pay part of something in a store (since they can be treated as gift cards).

To respond to the dg question: Not really. I considered another run of Age of Conan when they added in and promoted the movie tie-in content, but in the end I didn't because I wasn't sure how that content would fit with the existing play experience and world that I had previously enjoyed.

I think only animated movies have that effect on me. Disney's Tangled made me wish for a MMO with similarly impressive visuals and whimsical attitude and sense of adventure... Most films don't though. LOTR movies for instance, they really don't make me wish for anything else than more similarly grand movies. And when i watched the Hobbit trailer games were the last thing in my head.

@Rhazes But, if you only ever intended to stick around for those 30 days, should EA need to keep your account beyond that time? 2 million people (for instance) set up an account. EA passes it and treats it as per the privacy policy.

The 30 days pass, and some of these accounts are bound to fall dormant. Is the money for the admin, staff, etc to handle them going to continue to come from the money paid for the game box? As has been pointed out by Oskari, the billing doesn't take place immediately, and I'd also add that if you use a game time card that time is added to the 30 days. FrostPaw intends to play the game, so the account needs to be properly activated.

If I was going to revisit them, I might do so sooner.
Otherwise, no.

Well I'll be damned. I didn't know those two movies were in the works. Thanks for sharing, now I'm excited. :)

And I've never given much thought to other media releases and tying them in with MMO's. Sure I've participated in the practice of "Wouldn't this be cool as an MMO?" but that's about as far as I've gotten. Mainly, when I think of what media format would make a cool MMO, I think of many single-player games with engaging universes. They're often made with more elements that make an MMO than other media such as movies.

Huh, shows how out of touch I am too, first I've heard and seen the trailers (though I knew the Hobbit was in the works, m'course.)

Makes me want to break out the movies for a marathon session, it does. But revisit an MMO? Er, no. LOTRO vs the movies... the Peter Jackson movie wins hands down. An MMO just doesn't replicate the cinematic feeling at all. LOTRO is good for riding about to see the landscapes, is about it.

CoH/DCUO/CO to replicate a Batman feel? Don't make me laugh. They all have their good points, in that you can create your own superhero and story, but you sure aren't Batman. Now Arkham Asylum, that comes closer to a movie. And reminds me I have to find time to play Arkham City soon.

I was watching The book of Eli the other night and for some reason I fired up Fallen Earth again.... something to do with the post apocalyptic feel of it.

Also watched Conan and felt like visiting and thought about visiting AOC... this one I did not followed (I got very close to it).

Anyone else UNBELIEVABLY CONFUSED???

Dark Knight - great movie

Dark Knight 2 - better movie and better villain (best Joker ever! and amazing twoface!)

New dark Knight move - most retardedly BASIC, NORMAL and DULL, unexciting version of BANE in teh history of the DC universE! As well as one of the UGLIEST, untalented pieces of trash playing Catwoman???

Seriously, I thought this was a spoof and that there was going to be a REAL trailer sometime soon.

WHAT ARE THEY THINKING?? There are soo many other actresses that could have played Catwoman 1000x better and to have a regular guy with a normal build as BANE? Heck, batman forever has an AWFUL Bane and even THAT one was better than this piece of garbage!!!

I love Batman and Loved all the moves (even batman _ robin with Anold) and ANOLD was a better looking villain as mr freeze than this guy playing Bane!

All they had to do was just use CGI graphics for when hes pumped up or at all times, its not hard to do and they do it in hundreds of movies!

Now, the who Dark Knight move is going to FAIL MISERABLY, poeople will go see it for any part of the movie that dioesnt have bane or catwoman in it, and noone is going to tell their friends or family to see and noone is going to buy the DVD.

Seriously though. WTF happened??? Just when superhero movies were getting better and better, they come out with new batman as piece of crap movie #1 and thenm destroy the continuity of Spiderman with the new piece of crap movie #2 amazing spiderman thats based on Ultimate Spiderman - the comic that started all the ultimates lineup and destroyed the canon and history of all the great characters!

Also, go and look at the trailers (ANY OF THEM) for every Batman movie (all 4 pre DK amnd the 2 Dk ones) and then watch the 3rd DK trailer after u watch the other 6 and you will see how horribly un derwhelming it is and can tell its going to be a piece of trash. The plot is 25 years old, Bane looks like a hobo with reptiles mask from mortal kombat and Catwoman is played by one of the ugliest, most horribly UNSEXY women in all of Hollywood!!! And the big theme??? "Gotham at peace and then Bane break out people from blackgate /arkham ) WOW, a whole prison break of every day run of the mill criminals that Alfred could beat up! LOL

Serious, spend your money on Arkham Asylum or Arkham CIty, both games as as epicly amazing as the first and last movie. No need to waste time with the move that will force Batman from being in theatres for at least a decade.. And by announing in the trailer that itst he conclusion to teh trilogy and we all know bale is gone after this, is liek saying "come watch the destruiction of a once great rilogy with the biggest pile of steaming crap and the worst villains and characters ever!

Id rather watch 1984's captain America and 1986's fantastic four and the spiderman straught to video live-action moves all at same time for a week straight that have to admit that this new batman movie is actually being released!!! Its just sooo horrible I cant believe it.

DK trilogy ended with joker and the 2nd movie, not this peice of trash and we all know it.

WOW! you got all of that from a 2 minute clip? you are in the wrong line of business and go into the stock market and pick the winning stock because after 2 minutes you were able to predict that the movie is an epic fail you are ready for the stock...

I will predict something to you too... Batman can fight a sock with a hole in it as a third movie and it will make money... why is that? because of the movie itself... it has the backing of Batman Begins and the Dark Knight.
