It'll probably read like a German History Book. After NGE is just screenshots and a small blurb "Everything was fine. Nothing to see here."

Nah, it'll read "pre-NGE-only players barely experienced the game, since it lasted three times as long under the NGE ruleset." Lol.

Nice gesture by SOE at any rate.

SWG suffered long enough under NGE rule, finally it's been killed off and SWG can finally rest in Peace during the Emu era.

I'm pretty sure grinding to jedi, hunting for hours taming babies, and training them, over 30 different classes and skill combinations, and a non linear experience is called "experiencing the game"

Unless of course, you consider 7 classes, pink ewoks and broken post-NGE blankets with pre-NGE content "the game."

Pre-NGE is a footnote in the history of SWG at this point. I missed Creature Handler and a couple of the other classes as much as anyone, but if you didn't experience the last six years of the game, you didn't experience much of it.

There were way more gameplay features and functionality added in after the NGE, and that can't be argued. Sure you had more professions prior to that, and what could you do with those professions? Take part in broken PvP and grind for your master box. Woo.

Chronicles, Storyteller, heroics, collections, GCW improvements, I could on, but you get the idea. And that's not touching on six years of community after the NGE either. Pre-NGE was great, I loved it. But post-NGE was better.

Honestly, I loved both incarnations of SWG. It took awhile to embrace the NGE, but once I did, I agree - there was a lot more to do and I had a great time doing it. Those who simply rage-quit will never really understand what they missed.

Ah well, I will treasure all my memories of SWG and particularly its community. I fear no game will ever again match it.

I wonder if they'll try to print physical copies of this and sell it in book stores?

Also, I feel this is video may be apt for those that played and enjoyed SWG over the years (even though it is another IP).

Wow. Page 112 to 228 of that PDF actually has some of the most inspired Star Wars artwork I've ever seen. Even if you never played SWG, or fell out of favor with it like I did, if you are a Star Wars fan you should definitely check out the second half of that document. Kudos to the artists!

Yeh the TCG always had great art, shame they never used that skill for the game or the UI lol.

I find it funny how it's a memory book and yet they seem to forget the Pre CU and CU era :\ Remember the professions and it's the shitty NGE stuff...

@ysrossko

Well, Lucas Arts owns the IP and probably doesn't want that kinda fodder being put out there while they are launching another game. That file can't exist without LA's permission.

@Miffy So the memory of SWG should only exist in your head, inaccessible to the general population? Actually, that sounds like a very appropriate memorial for pre-NGE SWG.

Post NGE SWG was like a zombie locked in the barn that I just did not have the heart to put down.

Ah yes, a thread about SOE and SWG - time for the daily NGE bitchfest.

As one who played - and loved - SWG since launch in 2003, in all its various forms, I am deeply grateful for this memory book. I wish some of those who rage-quit SWG after the NGE had tried it again, later. While not the same as pre-CU. pre-NGE, the last few years of SWG were a lot of fun, with a great community that will be very much missed.

I suppose I should be more understanding of those who still hate SOE for the NGE, though, considering that I now despise LucasArts with every fiber of my being and will likely continue to do so for many years to come. :P

SWG apologist and SWG haters will be fighting a eternal war of words despite the fact that most folks could care less anymore.
