Very, veeery off-topic, but I can't think of another place where this question might get noticed.

To all of the good people who have gotten the collector's edition for SWTOR.... are the exclusive vendor items worth it? is the gear interesting/pretty/just more visually appealing than the rest of the game?

I'm asking because I'm still uncertain on what version I should get. I'm the kind of person who likes to have all the extra digital goodies when getting a game, so it was somewhat annoying to find that some of those wouldn't be available even with the Digital Deluxe pack. The reason I'm iffy on the CE is the overall cost and the physical items, none of which interest me at all (not even the authenticator is worth it, now that there's an Android app out).

Basically, what will get me to bite the bullet and get the CE is if the vendor stuff looks good. I'm a glutton for swanky gear.

@Rhodanum

There are probably some other places with screen shots, but here are some in the TOR forum.

Honestly a lot of the "is it worth it" for the collectors edition will really come down to the physical things. Is the authenticator, art book, soundtrack, and statue worth the price. If it turns out you really do like the statue is also came with a 30 dollar coupon off another statue you can buy of the bounty hunter character. I have the collectors edition and I still can't decided if I am glad I made the choice. I wish it had just been a little cheaper but at the same time I do like my goodies.

@madcartoonist The collectors edition is sold out. So you don't really have that option unless you want to buy it on ebay for about $250-300.

@EndDream

No, it can still be found if one is willing to go off the beaten path. It's still very much available at some non-English retailers in Europe. I've seen it in Swedish and German online stores, for those who are still looking around for it. Also, Amazon US seems to have it back in stock again. A hearty 'go, go, go!' for those who still want to get it! ^^

madcartoonist: Thank you for the link. From what I see, nothing is particularly eye-catching. I'll snoop around for Sage gear, because that one's going to be my main. That and I also have an absolute SW nut in the house who would probably appreciate the Malgus statue as a late Christmas gift. Me? Give me Darth Vader any day of the week. XD

Just to clarify for anyone who has fooled by the odd choice of screenshots, all images in this article are from The Old Republic, not Champions Online.

If imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, this serves as further proof that SWTOR is a hit.

There's a certain irony here, though. After all, think of all the comments people have made that SWTOR is a copy of WoW and now it's already being copied by another game!

@aurickle Proof is hard numbers in subscription fees collected. That a studio like Cryptic offered a sith warrior class for CO and lightsaber-bat'leths in STO is just them acknowledging a "big release" in a pretty cool manner.

I don't get why they even bother with archetypes. Sell the power sets and give people free form builds based off what they buy.

I'd hardly call it a copy of SWTOR. Of Starwars in general yes, but not a copy of the game as this Archetype plays nothing like any class in TOR.

Keep in mind none of this is new power sets, nothing new has been introduced here. You could already do this, and arguably do it better, with a free form character.

I'd say it's more of an homage to how great Starwars the franchise is and a nod to TOR knowing it will be great and wishing them luck, all the while providing some CO players with something new and cool, that's free for everyone.

Anyone who says ANY game is a copy of ANOTHER game is just an absolute MORON.

SWTOR is nothing at all like WOW, nor ANY mmorpg that has ever existed. Same with WOW and other games people compare to it.

Except for having levels, inventory slots/bags, abilities, a chat box and other basic stuff, theres NOTHING SIMILIAR if youy arent a moron and have played different games. if you have only played 2, then you might compare them and be wrong.

SWTOR is amazing and sooo great. So is RIFT and many other games, as well as WOW still being awesome!

Just find and play the game that YOU enjoy the most, regardless fo what others whine or cry about.S!

The joke is of course on the people who continue to shell out money for a game that hasn't seen a new zone in over two years. O.O
