ArcheAge's oceans are apparently vast, as the party makes use of the fastest ship in the game and still spends quite a lot of time looking for an island to call home. There's also a bit of island exploration footage, and you can find the first video after the break.

If you're not in the ArcheAge beta (or if you are but can't figure anything out due to the language barrier), you'll want to check out a series of new gameplay videos at Steparu.com. The fan site has uploaded six clips that show off the high seas adventuring to be had in XLGAMES' forthcoming sandpark title, and there's an hour's worth of footage sure to be of interest to those of you chomping at the bit to do a little nautical exploring.

This game is really bringing all the things I like and that were dumped from MMO by the industry since 2004.I can't wait to see the giant sea monsters battle.

The only thing that scares me about this game is how long it may take to be localized and brought to NA. If it even will be...
I gotta say, this game has me interested quite a bit, however, I don't know a timeline of when, or if, the game is coming to our shores, so I can't get too hyped.
Sort of a shame.

It's 3rd or 4th on my list of titles I'm interested in, dead last behind GW2 and TERA, and about even with or a bit behind TSW - but I would really like to see the sandbox MMO revived so that people who want that type of game have somewhere to be, because they're currently homeless, and I don't feel that it's very fair. One day, the industry will evolve to the point where sandbox and theme-park are both one, representing a medium which offers players ultimate freedom. Until that distant day however, it'd be nice to give the sandboxers SOMETHING.

I must have missed that bit of information, I'm surprised though to hear that, I hadn't thought anyone would attempt that for several more years. In that case, I give them props for trying to advance the genre, it's about time someone did. Now all it needs is action combat and I'd be sold, haha. One day, perhaps.

@NeverDeath Got you again, they are adding action combat similar to GW2. Ive been beta testing for a week now and already I have 2-3 abilities that allow me to dodge, charge, evade attacks like in GW2. The plate that ArcheAge is trying to fill is MASSIVE. They know they are competing with GW2 and Tera and keep a very watchful eye on what gamers like about those games. They even introduced the CBT4 with a few trailers, one being on combat.
The thing that I love about ArcheAge after following it for 5-6 months now is that they listen to the community. They have no NDA because they stated in interviews that they want to here negative criticism in order to make the game that everyone wants.

Wow, in that case, TSW just got bumped off the table and TERA+GW2 have a new contender, thanks for this information, I hadn't been able to find anything about action-style combat relating to ArcheAge when I tried looking for it, I must have missed it somewhere - that is awesome. Yeah, it sounds like a pretty big plate, that's why I didn't think anyone would be attempting it for several more years, especially since WoW's weak standards have led the genre into such a boring and complacent lull. In tandem with the power combination aspect which is something I absolutely loved about Runes of Magic (despite that the rest of the game was just boring and generic imo), this could very well be the game for me. I will now research further, thanks again!

Hmmm, well, it could be interesting.
I'll keep an eye on it just in case it pans out.

I really wish there were any chance of this being available for western audiences before 2015...

Looks very promising, just a few hurdles it needs to pass. Game needs quite a lot of polish in terms of smoothing animations and sounds. Add in the fact that this game probably won't be released in the US for a good 3-4 years, and this game will just be another TERA to people. Huge potential, but it will just take too long to happen.

This game truly looks amazing in terms of scale and freedom. I may be learning Korean soon

Stunning. I loved how the water came down off the camera when it came up from the water.

Visuals look great, although the character models look worryingly cartoony. My only other worry is that the travel looks slow (albeit beautiful). Sailing between islands could take hours, and that horse seemed to be the slowest horse I have ever seen :)

The Trimaran design of the ship is a unique touch - until now i've only seen the usual cannon-armed galleons used by large guilds.
Might be a good idea to grey out skills when interfaced with a vehicle though.
