They've been bringing up servers left an right. I think the total yesterday was like 18 in NA and EU. Lots of peeps playing and it's not even live yet (though I did just redeem my retail codes so maybe it is :P).

I like most of the names. But I'd like to hear what you suggest would be good ones?

Alright, going down the list of US and EU servers on their site I'd say my favorites were:

Anchorhead - A good connection to the old trilogy. The kind of name I would expect to be archetypal of a Star Wars game. Also a great name for a PvP server. Hive of scum and villainy ya know.

Iron Citadel - Another good PvP server name. Dunno what the hell it is in the lore, but it's a good imposing name. You can conceivably say it with some pride.

Keller's Void - A quick wookiepedia search tells me its from some really obscure short story, but apart from that I feel it just sounds cool. Void is a good word for that in general. It sounds like some kooky space anomaly you might see on TNG.

Mandalore the Indomitable - Come on, "Indomitable" is just the kind of word you want in a PvP server's name.

Space Slug - Mostly just amusing. Plus it's another reference to a very memorable moment from the original trilogy.

The Fatman - Also amusing and it's a PvP server with a nuclear bomb reference in it's name, very apt.

Wound in the Force - Sounds kinda cool, but also kinda sounds like a kinky Jedi BDSM porno. Which is hilarious.

Darth Traya - I'm an unabashed lover of Kriea, so I know this choice is biased. But you did ask for opinions.

The Red Eclipse - Again, just a cool name. Have no idea what it is in the lore, but it sounds like a ship name.

As you can see, "cool" is of primary importance here. I can't imagine anyone thinking that Davik's Estate is cool. Some place you see for like 10 minutes on Taris in KotOR1? Home to a nondescript, generic crime lord guy? Boring as hell. About the only way to be more boring is to name servers after lightsaber stances; annoying, weak worthless mobs from KotOR; and types of lightsaber crystals. Oh, wait.

I know they sound dumb, but I like to roll on servers with dumb names... because everyone wants to roll on a server with a cool name. They have to wait in queues; I don't.

This is good. There were queues on all the PvE servers last night.

Part of the reason I'm waiting a month before playing. I want things to settle down some and then pick my happy home server. But I'm excited about the game's success so far on launching.

They need to go slow. Rift had a similar huge demand, and they were very cautious at first...they finally relented and opened about 40 new servers.

They were full the first 6 weeks, then the population levels slowly retreated to what exists today (somewhere between 500k-1m). But the peanut gallery always points to 'closing servers!' and 'empty shards!' to undermine the title.

@(Unverified) RIFT has no where near that player population. Last estimate was 100-200k, which is still respectable.

I've heard that the queues are because they've artificially lowered the server caps in order to get people to spread out as evenly across the servers as they can.

I am speculating, but I see evidence to this in the guild-program, too. Where they assign guilds to certain servers.

Long server queue times suck hard. Long queue's are good. Yeah I said it... they are good. Of course that said I don't ever want to wait in a queue. Now all that said the reason they are good is because the natural course of mmos is that people play a month and then skip off to something else. So the times will drop. Now if they added 30 servers to lower queues you'd have empty servers.

It really is hard to strike that balance that will keep a server populated because add too many servers and then you gotta do merges later. Add too few and you have 2 hour long queue times and people will cancel because they can't play. I really am hoping things work out in the next week though. Hoping to have my copy by next fri.

I was in a 200-person queue last night on Ebon Hawk. Took about 20 minutes to get in-game. Brings back memories of epic queues for Suramar, Kel'Thuzad and Dragonmaw back in the day.

Alas, the main reason I bought the game was to follow a guild, and the guild has already been formed by people who pre-ordered long before I did and has already been assigned a server. If it gets as frustrating as it sounds it will, odds are I will not remain for long.

@Heraclea

Let me get this straight... if you can't play "now!" then you won't play at all?

You do realize that this queue situation is temporary until things settle down, right?

@Heraclea It'll be that way for at least a few months. If it becomes an issue I say simply drop the game for a while and come back when the excitement has died down.
