Aventurine shows off Darkfall 2.0 visual test video

Looks ok for being a polished turd I guess.

As a sandbox fan longing for the days of UO, I found and still find Darkfall to be utter trash. It really is a simple, bad videogame. I'm amazed people still play it.

I've played this game for well over a year and just quit after the 4x skill gain weekend. Completely burned myself out that weekend and have had no desire to play since. In that time sadly, it seems things are taking a turn for the absolute worst. Darkfall 2010, Arena, 2.0, etc. will now be the new vaporware that the original DF "was".

From the look of this video it's going to be EXACTLY the same. Obviously the same engine and environment models, and the new lighting system is on par with AAA titles that came out in 2004. The funny thing is, the entire playerbase and myself included NEVER care about half of the audio/visual improvements that they always claim to be tirelessly toiling away when not missing the bus to work or encountering a flat tire on their bike or swine flu (yes, seriously) or...

These visual enhancements would be a very welcome change if they didn't take priority over every other important thing that needs fixing in this game. Not to mention the fact that the video makes me even more unsettled over the potential wipe debacle currently happening in the community. Before I was all for it, but after this video it's just completely unwarranted. You want everyone to start over in this grind-fest for what looks to be exactly the same fucking game? Get real, Aventurine. As a matter of fact, they are going to get real. As real as filing for bankruptcy and having firm proof that you're complete morons can possibly get.

I remember being excited before this game ever launched. When launch day finally arrived and I watched a couple of gameplay vids I was like "really? thats it?". Now it seems they will mismanage this game into the ground. Sad day for the genre

There are a lot of issues with the company but still the best MMO on the market.

As much as I love the potential in this game and have enjoyed playing it till recently, I have moved on because of the way AV has managed their community relations.

It's unbelievable how badly they have done with the potentially great game. It took a long time for a really dedicated community to finally start turning on AV, but I think it's happened. That's because no one could believe how poorly run this game (as a business) is run, especially with respect to their customers.

I never thought I would see the day when I would think Starvault was doing a better job with Mortal Online. That game has only improved, while DF is totally neglected. Of course I will come back to try DF2 IN SPITE OF the company that runs it. But I don't have a lot of faith in it, or in the fact that it's not vapor ware. If it comes out, when it comes out....who knows? And the whole wipe thing, they raise the issue and then never answer a straight question about it. For example, and this is a real quote:

"It's not an issue for the moment."

If anything needed polishing it's the character models and animations, which probably still look like crap.
