@Ehra

Yeah, the problem is the game is old and while cheating may upset some players it doesn't guarantee the upset players leave where as a ban does guarantee a loss of revenue for SOE.

I perfer huge pain and suffering for anyone exploiting, cheating or breaking the rules preferably in a character wipe for the offending account but I can see why when your revenue is low, making it lower will never increase your profit or scope on a game that old.

The warnings and threats are all smoke attempting to scare players while keeping them customers. It probably won't work but they are trying which is worth something.

So what are these players doing to earn the punishment? Selling gold? Buying gold? Using bots?

Somehow I doubt they're punishing them for naming violations, trolling, or do things that irritate PLAYERS.

@JoeH42

Bots. Porting hacks. Radar hacks. That sort of thing.

@Xei That was my gut thought too. I occasionally go on old MMOG "archaeological expeditions," and these over-the-hill games for a couple months. EQ was possibly even less inhabited than Ultima Online.

I would of had much more respect for them if they had simply permabanned all of the accounts and said "We told you a**holes"

SOE has hired a 3rd party in TX to "inspect logs" and has now removed an estimated 4000 players, many of whom, even SOE has admitted "may have not committed any errors" and have been suspended for no reason whatsoever....there have been over 3 waves of suspensions and bans AFTER this "warning" with many players who stopped "cheating" and are still getting removed from game for "violations" that have supposedly occurred MANY months before the "warning" in game was given.

These players who have received suspensions/ banns are being given "NO REASON AT THIS TIME" why they have been punished. Sony refuses to comment on what your "violations" were.

IF you are a Everquest player, NOW is the time to GET OUT of this Poorly managed game that has been a subscription based and that now is reverting into "BUY IT NOW" button game - all over your UI screen, for options that were posted as "INCLUDED" within the recently released $40 expansion.

GET OUT NOW....SOE is ripping people off and booting innocent players in order to make EQ into a PAY PER PLAY WHILE YOU PAY A SUBSCRIPTION....its the worst player abuse that has been seen in MMORPG games to DATE...P.S. If you purchase any "STATION CASH" ,and get banned regardless of you guilt, they will NOT refund any of your money.

My 4 accounts have not been suspended or banned, but many players who i know personally have had toons removed, only too receive NO email or explanation why.

SOE is not doing this investigation, some other entity is arbitrarily telling SOE who is assumes is "cheating" and its running AMOK. STOP supporting SOE and its personal info compromising, consumer abusing practices.
