Diablo III? Or Torchlight II? If you can't decide which 2012 action RPG will reign supreme on your desktop, perhaps it's because you haven't compared each game's features side by side.
GameArena has made that task quite a bit easier thanks to a comprehensive new infographic that appeared earlier this week. Whether you need a quick glance at the games' classes, a breakdown of the various single- and multiplayer options, or a look at intangibles like the modability and offline play of Torchlight II, the infographic has you covered.
There's even a section on pets and a mini-bestiary!

I'll be getting them both. So I double win!

No pointless constant online connection needed, moddability -- I know the winner.

Pointless online connection? You obviously never played D1 or D2 online. Access to the full client (required for offline SP) is part of what makes hacking a game ridiculously easy. You either never play online, or you love cheating if you think this move is pointless...
Mods? Great, but you take the bad with the good, which includes hacking, trainers, dupes, etc. If that's your thing, knock yourself out...
In other words:
TL2 = Cheater's Playground
D3 = Purist's Sanctuary

Yes, pointless. I did play Diablo 2. I couldn't take my single player character onto closed battle.net servers. I also could play the game single player if I didn't have an internet connection at the time. So yes, requiring an internet connection for single player is ridiculous.

@cforciea OK, fair enough. But it's 2011...how often are you *REALLY* somewhere with a computer capable of playing a game like D3 and NOT have an internet connection?

@TheAngryIntern A stable, accessible, unlimited internet connection you mean. You'd be surprised how often one of those is lacking for normal people.
And if want to hack my sp game, why shouldn't I be able to? Sometimes I want to try a new build without fully leveling a character and collecting all the gear. Sometimes my son wants to play, and I'd like to make it easier for him. Sometimes I want a level of nothing but succubi. It's not as simple as sp==cheater.

D3 Beta was awesome, wizard is incredibly fun to play around with so I absolutely can't wait for the game to come out. Now I've also played Torchlight 1 and one of the prime things about it that I loved was the modding community that Runic embraces.
People have come up with amazing skin mods to totally custom classes like: Airbenders, Valkyries, Vampires, Spongebob. I don't think I'll see something crazy like that from D3. Then again Torchlight is pretty lighthearted like WoW so I expect that humor and craziness from the playerbase.
I'll tell ya though I like both on equal terms under their own unique qualities. Asking me to pick...I can't do it, they're both awesome games.

I dont plan on getting either but if I had to choose, I would go with Torchlight based off that graph

I can't even believe a website would have the audacity to even create such an article.
Diablo 3 will reign and Torchlight will be a few days get away until D3 is out. Then D3 will be continuously played for years and years past Torchlight.
end of discussion!

@Lucidus Well I can't tell you anything for sure but I'm pretty sure in the future you guys will have absolutely no sense of humor and won't be any fun to be around. CAUSE IT WAS A DAMN JOKE!

"I can't even believe a website would have the audacity to even create such an article."
I had the same reaction, but not for such a ridiculous reason.
These comparison articles are stupid, plain and simple.
They do ABSOLUTELY NOTHING but act as the ignition for more pointless goddamn bickering between Blizz fanboys and jaded Ex Blizz Fanboys.
Here's a novel idea, how about you let the players DECIDE FOR THEMSELVES.

No constant online connection needed.
No hidden fees masquerading as RMT transactions.
Yea I'll be going with TL2.

Runic Games is being better than Blizzard(mods, no perma-online), but Diablo is obviously superior. Torchlight is more of a joke game, I just can't take it too seriously. That doesn't mean it won't be fun/good, but I want a more serious game and that has a plot(the first Torchlight didn't really have one), so I'll buy Diablo 3 on release and wait for TL2 to be on a Steam sale.

Always online anyways, so constant internet connection doesnt matter at all
moddability.....meh, trivial
D3 wins, hands down

Mods are far from trivial. They're an admission by developers that no one can realistically make the perfect game for everyone. So they give the community the tools and the means to make the game perfect in any particular player's eyes.
Now, I understand why D3 can't realistically allow mods, but in my opinion those reasons (RMT auction house namely) are already negative, so its really just another turd in the punch bowl.
I played D and D2, and I've watched Blizzard morph WoW into the cash-grubbing monster it is now. I really just don't have faith in the company nor do I think their priorities truly lie in making an amazing game before making an amazing pile of cash (which lie hand in hand, but the later can unfortunately be had without the former) by riding their name and their franchises. I can't say the same about Runic.
