If you go Phantom Ranger, use a dagger till 52. Soul shot for lower grade bows cost to much.

You better get a pet! There's too many homeless ones out there that need homes!

This game looks pretty fun. I tried installing and running a second time but couldn't get past GameGuard errors. I've tried everything short of giving total control of my computer to GameGuard and its minions. I am not computer illiterate by any means and yet I'm stumped. Oh well... back to PreSearing.

@yeppers More than likely there is something on your system that is making it flag, usually it is your anti-virus or firewall. Check windows firewall, etc. That means that most or all of them might need to be disabled. While that is scary, anytime I run across that error I turn off my firewall or whatever else and restart it and scan after.

They have them there a lot of the time because many of the cyber cafes and other popular services from overseas need this built-in protection since they run on a bank of open PCs.

@Beau Hindman

Thanks for the help Beau. I'm pretty sure I tried that but I'll double-check and try again since I still have it installed. It's really odd because I haven't had issues like this before with any other game. Thankfully Guild Wars doesn't use GameGuard.

@yeppers I get the gameguard error 100% of the time when the game starts (on the login screen). Then I restarted my computer and I no longer get it.

Lost all interest in the game right there.

There's an oddity to the engine where it'll do a lot better with a SSD because its constantly loading stuff in populated areas. Also, the game's graphics engine (Unreal 2/2.5) is older, and thus doesn't take advantage of modern hardware (multiple CPU cores, newer DX versions, etc).

That being said, yes, its pretty and has some surprisingly long legs to it compared to some of its contemporaries. Lets hear it for good art direction!

@Sam not Spam

My favorite art design out of any MMO.

It was created in that golden age around the same time as AC2. They weren't afraid to push the boundaries of even the greatest computer at the time.

They also loved making awesome areas that weren't directly related to anything. No WoW like quest pushing you to that little area on the hill in the distance? no problem! let's put some fucking evil looking town up there with a unique mob.

The architecture in this game is beatiful as well.... L2 made me want to pursue level design / 3d modeling, single handedly.

Do not under any circumstances do the pet quest as a Dark Elf. It is currently bugged and impossible to complete. Also you can right click your soul shots in the skill bar and they will activate automatically. What server is he on? Does anyone know?

@(Unverified) Thanks. I actually found a site that told me about the Dark Elf pet quest being bugged, but I could get another character to level 15, get the pet and transfer the pet to my Dark Elf.

I'm on Magmeld.

You guys need to realize that this game was designed pre-quest spam. There are plenty of quests to do in the game as it is currently, yet the heart and soul of the game is centered around mob killing / exploration and a few main quests here and there.

Play it like you would AC or any other old school game. Whether you like quest systems like WoW or not, try and push that mentality aside and enjoy the game for what it's meant to be:

A zen-like experience of finding that perfect spot, maximizing efficiency, and slaughtering an area.

...oh and don't forget to put on some good music and role AW. Kill to the beat and enjoy the forgotten glory that is a *single wielding* 'rogue'!

Go find yourself a strong clan to join and make sure you don't miss the siege-weekend. Lineage 2 is about well organized mass-pvp and the huge sieges offer the most amazing moments in a gamer's life.

Well, in addition to the beautiful scenery is also some of the most beautiful music ever scored for a game. So its worth it to check out different areas just for that.

I'm pretty sure the Galleria isn't a store unto itself but just a sort of display area that goes into more depth about what some of the ingame store items are about.

I recommend if you do get the wolf that you make another account for Kamalokas so you don't have to wait. I have leveled many pets fast in Kamalokas so thats one way of doing it or sign up for catacombs and disiples and grind down there with a pet, Never use a pet in combat till its 55, that will keep your adena costs down and pet xp loss to a minimum. Pets do not gain xp from quest only from grinding on mobs.

Oh as far as armor is concerned don't buy till B grade. When you get near 40 do the Palika quest for ring and earring.

@DemonXaphan Alsoyes there are many beautiful areas to explore all over Aden, so take some time to explore but watch out in some areas because of the high level mobs. When you can check out the spore forest near the old elven village.
