@Miffy

Riiiight....like Age of Conan? Why do people like you even post this drivel. Bet you played one MMO and judged every MMO off of it, too.

@Miffy well in case you do not know they take the graphics a lot lower on some of the more popular mmos like wow and swtor to get more people in if you keep the system requirements high your not gonna have as many customers

@stephen09181981 also like to add graphics is not my determining factor on what i like in a MMO their is a lot of factor like for example lotro has barely end game content at all the more end game content you have this includes dungeon/flashpoints whatever you call them in a sci-fi universe

@Miffy Without a doubt, hands down, Fallen Earth. This game looks terrible in screenshots and quite attractive in person.

EQ2! they use low graphic settings and old character models for mos of the videos and pics. it looks HORRIBLE

if they just used higher graphic settings and the alternate character models, the game looks 100x better and cleaner and NEW!

EQ2 is an amazing game \that i WISH i played before WOW, but with the size and scope of them, I play eq2 a bit but cant get into it too much because wow's lore has such a pull on me.

If you havent played either or are tired of WOW (which i can nevefr understand) try EQ2 its an amazing game and theres soooo muchto see and do! GL!

@avaloner

Yep figured I would be down rated for thinking anything bad of GW2. If the people on thise site teach us anything it is that WOW is evil, RIFT is dead, SWTOR is WOW in space and GW2 is the second coming and perfect in everyway.

@avaloner GW2 looks a lot of fun, but I kind of agree, graphically (at least in their press release stuff) it doesn't look all that great.

I am pretty sure it's prettier in motion, though.

@avaloner

I think you're being downvoted because GW2 has an objectively nice look screenshot-wise, not because people are determined to like everything about the game.

Now, I can understand now necessarily liking the style (I see plenty of people complaining that it's too smooth/too influenced by Korean MMOs in parts) but saying it doesn't generally look good makes me wonder what might constitute a 'nice-looking MMO' for some, aside for a multiplayer version of Skyrim.

@avaloner I have to agree that the screen shots of GW2 just don't look that great. I have seen some videos of actual game play and it looks really cool, but something just doesn't look right when it is a still shot of the game.

@avaloner GW2 doesn't have a lot of fancy shaders/lighting. The art and environment design is wonderful, but not so much the tech.

@alzeer I have to agree that DDO just loses something when you see it in screen shots. I am glad that I tried it out once it went free to play in spite of the screen caps. You just can't capture the fun of a game and the action it give in a screen shot.

@alzeer : I'm with you, I've yet to see a screenshot of DDO that looks anything but awful.

WoW screenshots don't really look good on a desktop at least to my taste, whereas AoC and LoTRO landscape screenshots are simply stunning. That's playing both games with DX10 or 11 and on pretty well maxed settings, of course. Neither game looks remotely like 2002 graphics as claimed by Miffy, perhaps he needs to upgrade his machine. WoW looks a lot older than 2002 of course.

EQ2's graphics are an interesting blend of excellent and bland. Landscapes on the whole are bland but the original Qeynos architecture along with the newly revamped Freeport look excellent. On the whole I prefer the alternate character models to the original ones.

LOTRO character shots. Worst character avatars ever. Love LOTRO's landscapes though.

@MMOaddict

Yep, screenshots with LotRO characters would be my vote too... I love the game to death, but the character models could really use some work. The rest of the game is gorgeous though.

yeah I'm not sure why the alternate model's aren't the default. It's a bit silly. The only model I could see using the origional on is ogre's, as its purely a matter of choice, but humans and elves definetely.

Here's my 3 tips for taking screenshots in eq2:

1. Turn everything up as high as you can get it without crashing your computer. It doesn't matter if you're getting 5 fps when you're taking a screenshot. The game looks COMPLETELY different at the high end than it does at the low end. Textures especially must be turned all the way up. In fact, you should turns these all the way up anyways. They don't really hurt your performance.

2. Hide your UI. You can do this hitting F10. This also hides names and such. If you're not taking a screenshot of your character, go in first person mode.

3. Somewhere in the UI settings, there is a couple of options for screenshots. One is screenshot quality, turn this all the way up. The other is format, make sure this is set to PNG and not JPG.

Bonus Tip: If the picture seems too dark, there is a display option somewhere (either preferences or lighting) for the minumum lighting level. Ajust as needed.
