Obviosuly very well done but I do think the diablo 2 cinematics set that game up better. The opening for diablo 2 was quite a bit longer also but cgi takes time and costs money ofc.

@Verus

This may not be the whole thing. With Starcraft 2, a few of the cinematics they showed off beforehand (like the Kerrigan vs. Zeratul one) ended up being like twice as long in the actual game.

I'll agree I was disappointed with this. I expected... more.

Disappointed or not, I wish Blizzard would let their CGI department put together a feature length movie. They definitely know what they are doing!

My thoughts exactly. Is it wrong to much rather watch a movie from their CG department (based in either the SC, WoW, or D universes) than play their games? Blizz proves once again they are the kings of the cinematics.

@yeppers

The sad truth is that quality takes time. Their cinematics are amazing, but they've said in interviews that it takes them the better part of a year to crank out each of those 3-to-5-minute cutscenes. Granted they're usually working on more than one cutscene at once, that's still a freaking long time.

@(Unverified) Blizzard did mention in a few interviews and at Blizzcon if someone was interested in a Diablo series or movie they would love to be involved. Well if the WOW movie ever get's released, than maybe Diablo will be next.

@stamps79 I would hate to see a WoW movie. I'd be interested in a Starcraft or Diablo movie though. although it needs to be animated, no live action. Live action would suck badly

@wahahabuh I think a WoW movie would be good, or at least it would be good until "World of Warcraft δΊ” The Mists of Pandaria"

It was quite short, but much of the story between Diablo II and Diablo III is being revealed in other ways. There's a comic out, the Book of Cain, and we're likely to see more as the game approaches completion.

I wouldn't be surprised if this was just part of the opening cinematic, as the Black Soulstone cinematic follows on from this one and Deckard Cain is missing in that video. As I understand it the rescue of Deckard Cain is the subject of the first quest so the Black Soulstone cinematic can't come after Act 1. That would make this and the Black Soulstone video both part of the act one cinematic, and they might not be the only two parts.

Magic you dumb ass :) Same reason people have stomachs that act as unlimited bags of holding in all fantasy games... Unless of course potion liquid content is less than a thimble full...

I played on my friend's beta and it's fun, the clincher for me though is the fact that you can use a xbox controller to play this game with. I always wished I could done the same with Torchlight in pc but ya, this game kicks ass.
