On a more video-trailer related note:

It was so nice to finally see an area I played in during one of the Beta weekends in this trailer.

I think Inquisitor has grown on many people and I'll likely be making an alt for one, too.

Honestly....

How the issue of renegging on the grace period, which was stated by Stephen Reid awhile back, and flopping to no grace period DOESN'T get reported by the fine folks at Massively...boggles my mind. I like Massively...really, I do...but c'mon...this large of an issue with a HUGE post count (and with folks reporting it to massively)....and it doesn't even show up as a blurb? C'mon guys....

Alot of folks feel like they were lied to or feel like a victim of bait and switch tactics. I went with Amazon after reading about the grace period...feeling confident in the fact that despite my PHYSICAL copy not showing up for a couple days after launch, would be ok. I had time. But now, this close to launch, the same Stephen Reid saying there is NO grace period and having the AUDACITY to say we ALL misinterpreted a direct qoute of there being a grace period...just boggles my mind.

As a consumer, my faith in Bioware/EA and to some extent, Massively for NOT reporting on this, has dropped considerably.

Here's the link....for all those curious. Again...yes, a couple days...not a big deal. BUT, others are dealing with a week or 2 of waiting...not to mention feeling lied to. THAT is the issue.

@Twist3d : EA lied about the grace period when they launched WAR, so it's not really news that they lied again about the grace period for SW:TOR.

Saying that EA lying is news is like saying that the sun rising this morning was news.

1) Your first mistake was ordered from Gamestop.

2) Your 2nd mistake was ordering from Gamestop.

3) Your 3rd mistake was QQ'ing about EA / Massively when you should be QQ'ing at Gamestop.

I notice the video of the sorcerer doesn't show him healing anyone. We poor healers just don't get the love sometimes :(

"I pray you will never breed with anyone. "

I dunno - there seems to an awful lot of passion between you two.

Anyone else think they should get a room?

Hello Bioware, Hello EA

I am to say the least. Angry. When the game was announced for release I was ecstatic I had been waiting for years to get access to the game, then I was told that I wouldn’t be able to play because I was Australian. I was devastated, further investigation revealed that I could play but that the game wouldn’t be “released” in my territory for a little while longer and that I would need to purchase the game myself. Well ok then! I can do that, and off I totted to Amazon and purchased a Physical CE.

I then started spruiking the game to my mates and getting them to purchase the game online. I was sure that there would be some sort of grace period as MMO’s allow a delivery period and a 30 day free usage. I wasn’t sure so I checked online and sure enough I was directed to post regarding something called a “Grace Period” and directed to check the FAQ. Both a post in the official game forums and the game FAQ assured us that there would be a “Grace Period” it didn’t say how long, but encouraged us to check closer to launch.

Sure enough as launch approached the “Grace Period” topic came up for discussion and were asked to be patient and that Stephen Reid (@rockjaw) would get back to us later that week with a reply.

Not to worry Stephen Reid (@rockjaw) will reply by the end of this week

We know your waiting but someone will tell you something soon

No Grace Period… at all

I have 12 people who bought the game on my say so, who trusted me and bought something on a promise because I trusted you. I’m not going to lie to you and tell you that I’m cancelling my order, because you and I both know I’m not going to do that. You’re the only game in town, unless I want to go back to a failed MMO or play with Kung Fu Panda’s , and I don’t.

So here I am, frustrated, annoyed and yeah more than a little disappointed In total I'm spending $179(AUD – $183.82US) to get the CE as soon as I can, but even then I still probably wont get it till the 24th or the 27th . That’s not even the real problem although its not an insignificant worry. The real problem is that you guys have lied to us and then have acted as if we are the ones who are acting irrationally or wrongly. You’ve left the Community Manager standing in public with this junk on a chopping block without anyway to get him down. How are we supposed to trust anything that is said by you guys now.

So no Bioware / EA, I’m not cancelling my order because I still want to play the game but I certainly wont be recommending it to anymore of my friends.

You realize if you don't cancel your order your complaints won't reach them, right?

The only thing they understand is money.

@Nenene Don't tell people to cancel their pre-orders. It won't do anything to communicate one's feelings or complaints on the game to the developers. The developers are going to see the million+ pre-orders and not notice the few that cancelled theirs at the last second.

If the people are passionate about the game and want to voice their opinions, they need to keep playing it, and making their opinion publicly available for all to see (not spam up a forum).

Never buying the game doesn't help the developers understand why you didn't buy it. That's silly logic. We'd like to believe that our money makes a point, but that usually only works for local businesses, ones in which you can talk directly to the owner of the business. With online businesses, you're just a pin in a hay stack, and your lack of payment will not be noticed.

The whole mentality of cancelling until happy with an mmo is what causes mmos to have to go free-to-play and possibly even close down afterwards. MMO players are spoiled. They expect the game to quench all of their needs from the game, and until it does, they won't drop a dime. I would hope, by now, that players have seen that that kind of mentality doesn't help anyone, the players, the company, or the MMO.

The Origin installer seems to be getting a slightly better deal for customers but hope EA learn not to annoy. I take it the people who are ordering from Amazon can't download the game on origin?

From StephenReid http://www.swtor.com/community/showthread.php?p=12069505#edit12069505
"Our sales and marketing teams are working closely with retailers in the US (edit: plus Canada) and Europe to ensure that copies of Star Wars: The Old Republic will be delivered in time for launch day."

'Delivered in time' does mean that we are working to ensure retailers ship boxes in time for launch day. When retailers ship those boxes is down to those individual retailers, but the intention here is to ensure that for all of our launch territories, copies are delivered in time for launch day (December 20th).

Nothing can be guaranteed, but that is the intention.

Another post today by Reid http://www.swtor.com/community/showthread.php?p=12065534#edit12065534
Hello all. Apologies for this taking a while, but I've updated the original post with more details on Origin.com pre-orders.

I do not have a definitive update yet regarding retailers for the US and Canada, although I have had multiple conversations with sales and marketing today. What I'm being told is that retailers are ready to ship copies of The Old Republic 'in good time' for launch day on December 20th.

I'm going to continue to work with our sales and marketing teams over the weekend, and if we have any more major updates, we'll post them on the new community blog as the Forums will be being overhauled.

Looks to me as though the problem is being addressed.
