to little to late for me this sounds like a attempt to counter swtor early access that was announced yesterday two days earlier than expected

@stephen09181981 I can't wait for SWTOR to launch just cause I'm hoping you'll be too busy playing that and will spend less time trolling LOTRO. Every time there's a LOTRO article, you have a negative comment. We get it. You like SWTOR, you don't like LOTRO. Move on already.

Nice, I'm 74.5 so I'll smoothly continue my adventure then :-)

I won't rant about the in-your-face F2P offers in my mailbox and ingame screens, but hearing a lot about story with the imminent SWTOR launch, I find that LOTRO is still the strongest even if voice overs are few and NPC's repetitive. Maybe voiceovers and intelligent dialogs grab a bit more your emotions and attention, that was my feeling in KOTOR. But from the starting areas (except The Shire) nearly all quests are related to Isengard or Mordor preparing for war. Yeah even the 10 kill-boars ones had lots of time to do with the looming war in direct or indirect influence.
Now if they could fix combat so I don't have ridiculous miss/parry/block in every combats and I miss my best combinations (with shields or bleed for my guardian) because of this annoying hazardous rolling system. And Rohirrim without mount fight... geebus.
I think they have improved armour a lot, I'm wearing a new cosmetic one (the three pieces given after Tal Methradas betrayal), I hadn't changed since the Forochel blue reputation set and the best sets were horrible (Helegrod and Annuminas), that says a lot...

From this angle that looks like a butt that just ate a raw jalapeno.

Rorschach tests say a lot about how a person's mind works. I think your view of this gives equally good insight.

Just saying.....

@SnarlingWolf I wish there was a system where I could tell massively not to let the following posters reply to any of my postings. The list would be short and would include:

Considering that your anal focused post offered nothing to the conversation and as Snarlingwolf mentioned actually says a lot about you, I'd be hesitant about wishing for such things, Unverified. :)

On to the article, I did find it interesting that the release date for this update "is" one day before the new early release date of SWOTR. Don't worry Turbine you still got me, I just can't stand your pvp system so I'm hoping that SWOTR will be my needed pvp fix. The Ettenmoors come off like an inbred clique and bores me so I need another option for pvp.

I hate to be a cynic but did Turbine just sit on content for 2 months so they'd have something to counter TOR with? Sheesh, sorry you have to deal with WB these days lotro folk.

@jimr9999us

The content was bugged beyond reckoning. Heck, it was still bugged with the beta release a few weeks ago.

Cool, something to play while I wait for my email from SWTOR to start early. Not that I'm a huge SWTOR fan, it's bearable but it's new and something to tide me over till GW2/TSW/ArcheAge etc.

Wonder how much content I can get through before my TOR early access starts.

@Cassius81 I'm going to say all of it considering Book 5 is a total of four chapters and can be completed in about 20 minutes. The instances, if they work (one was still broken during the public beta a few weeks ago) will get old after the first run. Other than that, there's nothing else in Update 5, unless you're into joining random pugs in instances you don't care for.

@stephen09181981

Not everything is about TOR. If people are going to jump ship I'd imagine they've long since made their mind up either way and I imagine Turbine and every other MMO out there are expecting a drop... for a few weeks at least until the shiny rubs off.

Personally I won't be in any hurry to exchange the beautifully detailed and atmospheric Middle Earth of LotRO for the lifeless, linear backdrops that pass for the worlds of the Old Republic.

@(Unverified) - To each their own but honest each have their own unique look. If all the games looked the same, video games would be boring.
Besides, when was brown and grey ever considered beautifully detailed?

@Felnor Been to the Shire? Not much brown and grey there. It's one of the most beautiful zones in any MMO available.

@JaySpeed - I'll give you that one but when you get outside of there the developers lost their palette. Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed LotRO to a certain degree but it really wore off after hitting 30.

@Felnor Some of the high level regions look great too. Forochel is a unique setting and very nice looking for a snowy ice region. Lothlorien is one of the most beautiful places in the game. I really like the autumn look of Eregion. The problem Turbine is facing is that Middle Earth is mostly wide sweeping plains, mountains, or thick forests. It doesn't have the large spawling city landscapes. Though I am very much looking forward to seeing Edoras, Helm's Deep, and Minis Tirith some day. I thought Orthanc looks pretty epic in the game and I'm glad we're getting into the war torn regions now. I've had enough singing to tree's and delivering pies. I'm ready for the war of the ring. Mirkwood only gave us a small sample. Helm's Deep will be upon us.
