Fortunately, I know most tropes by now, after all the time I've wasted in the past, so I rarely have to click a link to Trope and when I do I don't have too many other things to lead me on through the rest of the site.

"...the Templars destroy The Secret World for me -- not because they don't look cool (I'm kind of a sucker for this sort of thing) but because they remind me an awful lot of The Grail from Preacher. They've got the same color scheme, the same pseudo-military sense of things, the same trappings."

Probably because they are both based off the same real world organization that has an iconic look and feel? They can only go so far afield with it before it stops looking like the Templars...

@Feydakin

That's both a draw and a drawback for the game. When you've co-opted anything in our reality, then you lose a lot of control. Direct references to Stephen King, for example, invokes classic modern horror as well as a writer clearly in decline.

People usually underestimate the house of cards that designing a decent piece of entertainment can be. Good artists and designers make it look easy, but the iterations and behind-the-scenes work goes far beyond anything even a collector's edition DVD could cover. It's hard work and even the most comprehensive plans of an armchair developer can be shattered by the realities of a production environment.

"It's just that you can't put wings on a car and expect it to fly."

You also can't fire a cannonball and expect it to turn into a perpetual motion machine, but sometimes it happens.

Is Lineage II reasonably solo'able?
