The Secret World is expanding its territory today with a new video revealing the Scorched Desert. The new zone is set in -- where else -- the sands of Egypt, where a dark corruption is taking over the land. Biblical plagues have returned to Egypt as an ancient cult awakens the dead. Of course, it will be up to players to fight back the forces of darkness and keep the paranormal activity at bay. For the full video, just click on past the cut.

Definetly reused some assets from Khopshef and Kheshetta to be sure.

Seems a bit too fantasy for my taste. What we saw of the Savage Coast and London was great, but this just looks like Age of Conan. Would be awesome to include more modern elements. The whole point of TSW imo is that I don't want a 'kill 10 evil spirits' quest.

Is it just me or does she sound just like the semi naked woman at the beach when you start age of conan. (AOC Horrible VO by the way)
And if secret world is gonna be using the same actors, I fear for this game, well not fear since I ain't playing it unless they remove the cashshop all together. cashshop+sub=robbery wake up gamers don't take that shit. would you go somewhere to eat order your dish let's say a pork ramen, than they bring you the soup but there's no pork, uhm excuse me waiter where's my pork ? oh I'm sorry sir that's an extra you have to buy it at the dessert table. What? so what did I just pay for than? waiter: pork ramen sir. client: so where the f**k is my pork than ? let me get this straight, I pay you full prize for a pork ramen right? but than i gotta buy the pork again from the dessert table (cash shop) ?
What kind of f*ing robbery scheme is this ? who'd be dumb enough to fall for that ? Waiter: you'd be surprised what people put up with these days sir......!!!! Oh so it's normal and accepted ? waiter: yes sir. Client: oh well if everyone is doing it must be ok i guess ? Waiter: hahahha got a new dumb*ss hooked hihihihihihikikkii.

Yeah. Looks like it might be a decent game but the payment model is Borat-grade indecent. It makes all alternatives look like much better value for money by comparison.

Subs have been $15 for how long? Try telling your landlord that you are only going to pay your rent as it was a decade ago, or find a place to fill up your car for $1.25/gal.
Prices go up. You can either pay $40 a month and get your 100% of everything sub, or accept that there will be a cash shop in every mmo. I find it funny that Bliz has a cash shop+sub game model and no one bats an eye.
Hows this... you buy every item in the cash shop, get all your silly hats and sparkle ponies for $40 a month, I pay my $15 a month, get only the hats I like, and can still afford to pay my ever increasing rent and put gas in my car (but hey, if you find a station selling gas for $1.25 I would be extremely interested)

.........Went off a little there, we did.
Countless times it has been said, Secret World's cash shop shall be cosmetic items only.
To go with you analogy that won't be the pork, the noodles, nor the liquid of the soup itself but merely the soy sauce you might add to your ramen. (That said, some people like copious amounts of soy sauce)
Looking forward to the game, wishing it the best.

Does a a cohesive map/world matter to anyone else? I never thought about it until now, but it is highly unlikely this game will (ever) have a full, walkable map of the earth. It will instead have isolated hubs. A hub for each faction, for each zone (this is a desert hub, can jungle and snow be far behind?)
Oh well.
Oh well.

LMAO I'm sorry, but do you have any idea what you're asking for? A game version of the entire real world? Aside from the number of assets alone that would be required, let's consider this:
Oblivion was 16 square miles.
Vanilla WoW was 80 square miles.
LotRO pre-Mirkwood was 496 square miles. (Although not all of that is accessible.)
Rift is about 25 square miles (prior to the most recent update).
The earth is 57.5 million square miles of land. Even at 1/40th scale it still works out to 36,931 square miles of land.
Yeah... that's going to happen real soon! :p

Yeah, my wording is grossly unrealistic, but I do like to be able to walk from one zone to the next in a game world. You won't be able to do so here. You get on a plane or whatever to travel from london to egypt to korea to nyc. Perversely, it doesn't make it seem like a cohesive world, but instead a collection of zones.
