Used to be any LotRO event; they are fun, with a lot of activities, and some of them have great replay value.

Not now, though; with the new consumable deeds (and the insane amounts of daily quests needed to get the consumables for even one of those), LotRO events, for me, are just another grindfest. At least until I get all deeds done on all my 10+ characters, which won't happen anytime soon.

@DarkWalker

This will be the 2nd time they offer the christmas village quests where you can do such awesome tasks as clean up garbage and tell homeless people to move along..

The stage play was cool though, I will admit.

What I really liked about previous LotRO seasonal events is that anyone aiming to have all deeds and mounts could be done in an hour or two, without having to ever repeat a quest; after that, it was just picking whatever events you fancied, or even ignoring the whole thing if you didn't really like the event.

From your example, I could quickly do all the quests I didn't really like just once, get my deeds, and for the rest of the event just do whatever activity picked my fancy. A little work, no repetition, and we had the deed and mounts and were free to do anything we wanted (and, most importantly, ignore anything we disliked) for the rest of the event.

The introduction of the new consumable deeds changed this for any completist like me, though. Now anyone who wants to get all deeds needs to complete a huge amount of seasonal repeatable quests (up to 60 for each deed, and the autumn fest had 7 of those), which means we don't have the luxury of choosing and picking anymore; instead, to "complete" the event, we need to endlessly grind all available quests, and even the hourly cooldowns. Instead of being a fun and relaxing time, the events with the new deeds became a stressful grindfest.

@DarkWalker This is evident of lotro in general. Went from fun to grind - fast. Everything after moria is a horrendous grindfest.

@Stanimir

Yeah the grind in Lotro has grown exponentially worse. Instead of being more creative or giving more content Turbine has found ways to become the ultimate milkmaids... Milking anything and everything under the sun.

I like Rift's Fae Yule, Wow's winterveil and EQ2s Frostfell. Each of those games gives me cool santa hats, candy canes and reindeer pets/mounts and neat little food buffs. It's small but quaint. Plus they put up christmas lights which I just love. Something awesome about running around in a santa hat killing things lol. Evil things, that is.

Same, although it seems right now all we've got is Zilloween on a rotating calendar schedule. Can we get Cosmas Eve or something? D:

Guild Wars ofcourse, I don't know if DCUO is doing one but I hope so, and I'll hop on Runescape because even though I don't play it the events are always amusing enough.
