Whatever. I'm just gonna stand around on Dromund Kaas and dance for a while. And then play again when I get around to it. Doot-dee-doo.

"BioWare also stated that while [it] will try to ensure all your allies and adversaries will be assigned to your same server, [it] cannot guarantee it,"

In light of the above quote, what was the point of it?

I'm not complaining here or anything, I honestly am curious.

Ope, I should add that I was under the impression that (premades being on the same server) was the point, hence my confusion.

@Alph

They have to make a statement like that should something go wrong, or not work out. Normal c.y.a. stuff.

Allies aren't guild mates but other guilds your associated with. Where as Adversaries are guilds that you have a rivalry with. What they are basically saying is that while your guild mates will end up on the same server, you may not be placed on the same server as the other guilds you are associated with.

The point was to give people another reason to pre-order. :)

Rule #1 of customer relations - don't ever promise something unless you're super duper uber sure you can deliver.

@JayDay

I'm leaning to that class/spec as well but unlike you I've been purposely avoiding any and all info about the game.

Mainly because every other time I've beta-ed and read up on a game before release I find myself disappointed when I do get into the actual game because I already know what to do and where to go.

Along Alph's thought, but a light veer to the right into Park-area rest-stop.

Maybe this is a way to dilute it, but most people, particular RP ones, make a habit of trying to make an unofficial RP server (many know about this and many do not), when a game launches. This tends to get people of like-mind together.

Of course, maybe with the initial numbers, only one server is too small, but that's beside the point.

I am wondering how this tool will throw guilds to "whatever" server. Sure, the chances are alright that such-n-such a guild will get on an RP-PvE server as opposed to a pure PvE one, but we don't know. Assuming the "tool" works and throws a guild on their desired server, it still may throw other players on different servers, fragmenting some of the community.

In such case, players will just have to take the initiative to move themselves (and guilds) to another server, which sorta makes this tool-thing a bit moot for a segment of the population. Of course, pure PvPers should worry, that is, if they want many guilds to challenge and a rich combat environment, just as RP-PvPers, if they want less "barrens chat" and the like.

@Space Cobra A good number of the RP guilds already allied/adversary'd each other in pre-launch, so hopefully they'll have a good community wherever they end up.

I know that with my guild, anyway, at least two of the guilds we allied/adversary'd put themselves in as different time zones or different server types, so we may or may not end up on the same server. It's not that big of a deal to us, so I'm not fussed. Bioware will be sending out emails to everyone in the guild to let them know which server our guild's been created on, so when we launch, they'll pick the right one.

Considering that you can't make a guild until you get to the 2nd planet (Dromund Kaas or Coruscant) and it costs 5000 credits and requires a full group, it's nice that it's being taken care of before hand. This way we're pretty sure to get the name we wanted, anyway. :)
