This expansion is going to be a complete "I'll decide when it releases" thing for me.

I found myself that the former free-to-play EverQuest II was so feature-crippled unless you subbed, that it wasn't even worth playing otherwise.

I'm curious to see if this latest version of EQ II F2P will be a little more player-friendly.

@mysecretid The F2P part really isn't any different than the current offering. The main thing that has changed is that the Gold sub has been upgraded to be identical with the current live sub. That, and they removed the platinum subscription plan

@mysecretid : how peculiar, I found it to be by far the LEAST feature-crippled of any of the sub -> F2P conversions.

I agree, the limits on it were nowhere near as bad as other converted games.

@mysecretid

I don't really have any issues with their free offering. Only thing I can't get for free that I want is the level lock.

@ed511df3

You say they removed the platinum subscription option but I found it under my account option selections last night. I guess they just haven't removed it under that area yet.

How is a gold and gear limit not crippling? F2P should be class, race, area, quest line limited not pay 2 win. Or you plan on raiding in master craft? The limits literally mean you can't equip solo quest rewards at the end game /facepalm

@Solude

You can buy gear unlocks. You just have to plan carefully on what you want to equip.

There are bronze members who do raids so it must not be that crippling.

I guess some people still haven't quite grasped the concept of "free to play" yet, and believe that it should give them an absolute entitlement to play the whole way through a game for nothing.

@Seffrid The east did F2P right, IMO. No limits on levels and such. They just sold cosmetic options and quality of life things such as increased experience rate. No content was locked out.

@Seffrid They have to make money somehow. Perhaps you should quit being a socialist hippie and join the real world with the rest of us.

@ Raikulxox I doubt EQ2 would make enough money selling only social items. If they thought they could they probably would. Instead, they sell both.

Try reading my comment again. I was criticising those who think they are entitled to play a whole game for nothing, they haven't grasped that "free to play" doesn't mean that they get it all for nothing.
