@GW2waiting

Steam isn't a company.

Digital is fine, just supplement it with something small (or large and expensive if money is no object and that's your thing) that is physical and wrappable.

One of the hardest things is coordinating, particularly during steam sales/group buys.

To in-game friends, a virtual item can be a nice game-centered reminder that you're thinking about them.

To IRL friends and family, I don't give such gifts unless asked... and every year more and more family members are requesting virtual items. Mostly Farmville and such right now but I have fulfilled Christmas gift requests in WOW while I still played.

I've given games, both PC and console, and even handheld systems and gaming consoles in the past to friends.

And this year, just like Jef, I have an extra copy of the collector's edition on pre-order to give to a friend.

Steam is your christmas friend, just try and hold out for the sales. Only problem is with the autum sale i now have dead space 2, only just held off on space marine but hoping we see a 75% drop for xmas. Its a shame i can't gift ps3 games from steam :( or i'd do more of my xmas shopping on steam.

With all the sale prices on steam and other sites (most uk shops do a digital download service) The only real blocker is the bandwidth needed to get them surely.

@SiML

It's what my friend calls a "I never would of thought of that" present...while you quielty puts it away out of site or sound, only to roll it out for that garage sale you might be having in a few years. :(

Nah I prefer to give and receive presents that I can touch and unwrap. Don't plan to use digital presents ever.

I'm not giving anyone any games this year, although I have given games to both my son and daughter many times before. We're giving him the blu-ray Star Wars Collection this year, and I believe that he is giving me Skyrim while my wife is giving me SWTOR.

The best tip I can pass on is from my cousin many years ago, when he announced that he always bought himself a Christmas present on the basis that he would then know that he would be getting at least one thing he wanted!

@Seffrid

Christmas must be a blast if you guys know what you're getting ahead of time REGARDLESS OF WHETHER YOU HAVE BEEN NAUGHTY OR NICE ! - besides, how do you know you are getting SWTOR from your wife unless...

*drumroll*

You have felt her presents! .......(presence). =D
