If EVE Online is truly spreadsheets in space as some of its detractors (and even fans) have surmised, thus far it's been a spreadsheet with fairly limited search capabilities. Now thanks to the efforts of CCP developers, finding your random crap spread across the cosmos in various New Eden station storage facilities just got a lot easier.
The latest EVE Online dev blog has the details on the asset search functionality updates, and they include new keyword searches and a complete listing of keyword values. "There [is] definitely more we can do with this in the future but we started this rather late and [we] didn't want to add lots of broken functionality, but rather a few simple options that work and cover the basics and a bit more," the dev blog explains.

For being a sandbox, I don't feel this has much freedom. Wish I could get into it, but I can't.

@Ranxerox I probably will, since it seems a good game to get into. I guess the complexity and the fact I could lose all my hard earned stuff in a second deter me.

Seriously? Cryptic keywords in an overloaded search window? I've played text-based MUDs with a clearer interface - but not for about 15 years or so, because everyone's moved on to things like search fields in GUIs.
I've been wondering whether CCP's come-to-Jesus moment was a true change in their understanding of what players wanted and needed, or if they were just panicking and pulling their task list off the forum threads. I think this pretty solidly locks it in as the latter. They still don't have a clue.

Yeah, hardy-har-har. I've played MUDs too, but I think you've missed the point. Boolean operators in place of a billion search fields is a more elegant fix. As someone who actually plays the game, this is a pretty welcome feature.

First, Eve is not a sandbox!! Sandboxes let you create something new and unique.
Next, Eve is a great game if you like realistic SciFi. If you only want fae and dwarves, then no, if you want science then yes!
I like being able to find what I have in inventory, never knew why it was ever not functional. Fixed a bug, nothing big, just CCP doing there job again.
Kudos!

According to eve-offline.net amount of online players continue to fall despite latest effort of CCP to save face after failed WiS expansion and monoclegate. And SWTOR even wasn't launched yet: from that I know about 20% of active EVE subscribers from my alliance already purchased SWTOR - 700 out of 3500 signed for SW guild(s) (limit is 500 players per guild thus there will at least 2 guilds right from launch of SW).
As owner of 3 frozen multi-years-old accounts I hope it won't end with CCP filing for bankruptcy.
