I'd wait until they finish the Isengard expansion before getting all giddy about LotRO...

That said, yeah. I take some comfort knowing I have some fresh Middle Earth content on the back burner for post-SW:TOR, post-RIFT, post-AION and if Secret World is lackluster. Oh, and if GW2 slips to Qtr 4 2012. Oh, and if WoW pandaland is bumped to 2012.

That's where a broken expansion puts you in the queue Warner Brothers, sorry.

@jimr9999us Surely WoW: Panda will be out next year? Can't see it being December

@jimr9999us yeah a patch came out yesterday for the current expansion. World of Rolling Pandas is going to be either summer of 2012 (if Blizzard is smart) or Nov/Dec of 2012 (sticking with tradition).

Every time I go back to LOTRO I'm struck by just how good of a game it is, and I question why I ever stopped playing. I guess I just get distracted by a new f2p or beta, or even a single-player game like Skyrim, so I'll stop playing LOTRO for a good month or two. When I log back I'm always impressed again with all the little things it does right, and how much I seem to enjoy myself.

Having us, the players, help out Theodred was really a great idea. We get to be involved in the whole Rohan vs Saruman and his Dunland minions without too much lore breakage. Thay can't have us fighting alongside Aragorn at Helm's Deep or hiking through Fangorn with Merry and Pippin after all.

Besides the guys looking like they're hovering about a foot off the ground, that screenshot looks pretty nice. Are they doing a graphics update? The character models in the game right now are starting to look a little dated.

I still have the game installed and updated, log on once in a while just to see if any of my old kinnies have gotten back on. Unfortunately, my buds haven't been back in the game since it went F2P.

@yeppers A foot off the ground? Really? Seems to me they have their boots firmly planted on the ground.

Player characters have not been redone, but some of the newer NPCs, like those Rohirrim and the Dunlendings, did get new models. One thing Turbine has been very good at lately is armour design. It's much better by leaps and bounds. I've been putting every single armour piece I could find into my wardrobe for my low level characters to wear.

The new class horses (store purchases - hunter's horse and guardian's horse so far) are very impressive as well.

I don't really consider LOTRO a MMO...to me it's a virtual world, a very fun kickass virtual world.

@Dunraven Same here, I feel inclined to do every quest and actually get-into LotRO as opposed to caring so much about optimizing my character.

Not really Rohan content as it's based in Dunland and Isengard. I got excited thinking we were getting a sneak peek into some 2012 content.

Book 5 consists of a whopping four chapters, three of which you are saying goodbye to the Rangers. No LI Update - Part 2 as promised. No new content for casual players. They've completely changed the skirmish token system and, by doing so, have now added a new layer of grinding. When Update 6 comes out, solo players will no longer be able to get the Draigoch 4 piece set - Turbine has already gone back on their word there. I've stopped playing, stopped paying, and stopped buying any TP. Good thing SWTOR is coming out...it will fill my time until GW2 gets here. Turbine has ruined LOTR for me.

You're forgetting that earlier this year Turbine stated that they're moving away from tying all updates to the Epic Story. Some updates will continue the story. Others will introduce new systems or tweak existing systems. But it will be a very rare update that does both.

Since this update continues the story, it's no surprise that it doesn't have things like the second part of the LI update.

@(Unverified) Another crazy whine? Haters always will hate. Bad news, good news - doesn't matter :)
1. Last chapter consists of 3 or 4 epic battle instances. Very good instances. What you whine about? About content distribution in chapters?
2. Turbine promised LI update with part 2 IF IT'LL BE NEEDED. It's not needed. It's good as it is. So you can wait part 2 and whine for long :)
3. RoI had more than enough casual content. Problem is new group content. And update solves this problem.
4. They never promised that this situation will be forever.

BB, whew another whiner left. Can i have your stuff?

they can tease all they want. Until they add the UI enhancements that every game should have to their game then there's no returning to Middle Earth for me. GW2 will be the new standard. After GW2 is released, all of the game devs will have to catchup.

@(Unverified) lolwhat? Lotro already have one of the best UI's in MMOs. And it can be improved via plugins.

Not sure what in particular you find lacking in LotRO's UI, but if you didn't know already it's quite customizable with plugins. I have hotbar buttons that expand on hover-over, one's that only appear when necessary (like remove poison/fear/etc.), it's pretty nice.
