Star Wars: Clone Wars Adventures is getting a new expansion known as Battle of Umbara. And just for giggles, the update will be hitting the live game on December 15th, which is the first day of Star Wars: The Old Republic's head start. Sony Online Entertainment has released a short video to show players what they have to look forward to from the Umbara combat zone when the update goes live on the 15th. Along with the new combat zone, the expansion will also bring new mission instances, zone-wide events, and more.. If you want to check the game out, you can sign up for free on the game's official site. Otherwise, just click on past the cut for the video.

Even if they just copy the hotbar-tastic combat formula from WoW and the like it will already be better since the space combat in CWA is much more fun than SWTOR's.
Actually i would imagine from the rest of the way CWA plays it will be more action oriented but probably easier and EXTREMELY light on death penalties if any.

@Lucidus Exactly. Frankly I like CWA's space combat more. It has a bit more of a 'arcade' lean by chaining together kills for faster/stronger guns along with in level power ups and if you don't keep it up it resets. Meanwhile SWTOR's felt like 'going through the motions' on top of having to repeat missions to progress through it and get better equipment.

Does this game play like your average MMO?

No, it doesn't. It's mostly moving in a Lobby with mini-games attached.
But this is...really weird. This preview seems to indicate a bit more Free Realms/MMO mechanics, at least in this one area/zone.

@Space Cobra yea from what I heard and read they're addressing that gameplay issue that players and gamers were criticizing them about the game being nothing but a lobby game. After a day playthrough when this game came out I left as well.
I hoped it would be like Free Realms at least but it wasn't even that. It was one lobby area with literally only 4 rooms and expensive cashshop items. The game was so small I was stunned that they pulled away so many team members to work on the game instead of Free Realms for like 2 years and that's all they had to show for it.

It's also interesting it's coming out Dec. 15th....
Also, since this is SOE's only Star Wars game when that date starts....
Hmm.... I can speculate, but I wonder why the turn to a more "open-world" enviromment. I'll not clutter up things with "conspiracy theories" until I get a bit more info in the casual way (by bumping into it). ;)

At first glance I thought that was a screenshot from SW:TOR!

Is it me or are CWA's graphics better than TOR's?

@BigAndShiny Nope their art style is far more inline with Star Wars than ToR's will be. Trooper armor looks exactly like clone armor, jedi gear exactly like jedi gear, also have a jawa pet along with droids. Housing is build your own based off whatever blocks etc you'd buy. Engine though could be tweaked a bit to bring it more inline with Free Realms but it is decent enough to be turned into a full fledged social MMO.

Hmmm. maybe somebody at Massively can check out the game and report whether any significant changes have occurred making the game less lobby based?

So we can use all our accumulated gear for something besides standing around now? Just need to hear the magic words you can ride your vehicles and ToR looks boring now.

That's what it seems.
I have a Commander Cody with a slung Machine Gun I am itching to try if this is the case.

This game is a pretty big waste of resources and IP. I am surprised it is still running.
